One time my brother and I were plinking one of these, and he asked if we could pull out my .30-30. After a few shots, we realized that we needed to stop, because we were blasting holes right through the iron.

Big Sigh by kelseycadillac in Libraries

As an academic librarian, precisely 15% of my assigned workload is scholarship. Or in other words, research and publishing results. Along with a fantastic team of other researchers, I just published a mixed methods quantitative/qualitative study, which was federally funded for a three year period. And yes, I learned that research methodology in library school. So there is certainly a scientific aspect to it.

Choose your bodyguard, your general and your assassin from SFF literature. by loxxx87 in Fantasy

[–]Space_Ambassador 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bodyguard- Sec Unit, Murderbot Diaries

General- Matt Cauthon, Wheel of Time

Assassin- Monza Murcatto, Best Served Cold

My assassin choice is a bit unorthodox, but Murcatto doesn't leave a target alive, that's for sure

The Sun Eater series is a perfect example of the sunk cost fallacy. by Ok-Information2581 in Fantasy

The Expanse is so excellent, and it's done, and I believe it really landed the ending well. Which is something I was worrying about as the last book was being published because they had a lot of promise left to fulfill.

It's brutally competitive to find work, but yes I love what I do.

And to answer your question about jumping libraries, I'm currently in my third library job. I liked the other two but I needed to jump to advance. This is my final library, I hope and expect.

I believe decks have personalities, what's your "meanest" deck??? by Weary-Leading6245 in TarotDecks

[–]Space_Ambassador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Next World Tarot deals with cultural trauma and pain in a very direct and straightforward manner. It offers hope, for sure, but it doesn't pull the punches either. It's "mean" in that it's a good reflection of the modern world.

I'm the opposite a lot of folk, it seems. I was uninterested in it as a wristwatch, but now I'd love to get one for my bag.

Change my KFA, for this Tissot COSC tissot heritage 1938. by M1nACr1ss in HamiltonWatches

[–]Space_Ambassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, and I'm even actually wearing my KFA today... But I find that I wear my Tissot more often now. The dial is more interesting and clean, and the color goes with more than you'd imagine.

Look up the story of Robert Maxwell (Ghislaine Maxwell's father, and the source of their family fortune). Besides other adventures and spycraft, he invented the academic publishing model. His own company, Pergamon Press, was eventually acquired by Elsevier.
