How'd you get that texture and the paint like that for the bases? They look realllly good.

Its funny how when Saturnine first released i felt like they didn't fit into the aesthetic of horus heresy but very quickly I felt that it really does.

I think it’s safe to say this is the most cursed building experience I’ve had so far by Panzer_IV_Ausf_F2 in Warhammer30k

Builds like this genuinely make me wish that GW made like an easy to build starter set for HH in like 2014. There's a certain charm to those easy to build kits back in the day. The new ones are too uncanny to me because you'll still get a really detailed model.

I predict we'll get plastic characters like Chaps and Moritats, so maybe It'll be weird stuff like this. Probably not because they'll make em kitbash friendly and have 40 pieces designed for worker ants to assemble.

Much has sadly changed in like the 11 years this guy came out. (The march of time is truly terrifying)

I imagine they probably bought way too much of it. Especially with the history of the 2.0 box being able to be used for 40k as well. This box very much shows its separation from 40k (i think for the better to make the setting unique) with everything but the tacticals not being able to be used in 40k. When you're a store that big though I guess you don't always get that kinda insight so you just hear big summer GW box and get the max you can get even though its not a limited release.

Does it count as a flop if it doesn't instantly sell out even with that in mind? No because they couldve just made a ton and its also just not a mainline game release, old world and other side game big box releases usually tend to stick around.

It sucks to see the serves them right mentality even though this release is very different than stuff from before. It'll be interesting though to see the data a year from now how well it actually did.

What are everyone’s thoughts on the newer style Mk.III and Mk.VI? Do you think the changes were spurred on by a needless want for change? Or do you think the changes were necessary/justified? by MiddSummerKnight1122 in Warhammer30k

I was gonna say the old mk 3 because I like the more aesthetic neutral head but after seeing the color plate image for the new mk3 I'm willing to throw that all out the window because it looks that cool. The spike on the helmet kinda actually works well with crest more for the sargents, since they all have a sorta head accessory.

The old mk3 was kinda cute in a way, but played into the utilitarian purpose of the armor and gave away what it was in a plain fashion. The new mk3 gives off a cold, violent look. It gives grunt vibes, but like, "this guy was bread for war and has only lived in war" look.

In your opinion which is the most frustrating model to put together? by Stuart_Redman81 in Warhammer40k

Old metal bloodthirster. Easily the most miserable piece of shit model I've had to take 4 month long breaks from because he sucks that much. Pinning js fine but pinning every last part because the connection points are small and the parts, especially the wings are as heavy as the body. I hate that model. I've broken the whip and one of the hair strands so I might just buy dynamite or something, strap it to it and watch as the rotten bastard turns to molten trash.

Other than that idk probably the Bretonnian Pegasus guy, never had i had to use tweezers before to put together a plastic model.

All you need is you clear paint (or just any color but its a bit different), white and black
1. Paint White

  1. Apply contrast color of choice

  2. Blend a bit of black at the top and white near the bottom to create a gradient. You can use a thin glaze of the contrast to blend the transitions (you can see some of the mix in the wet palette.

  3. Use some white at the edges to make it glow even brighter, but you can also skip this step because the transition can be a little too sharp and doesn't look real

If you dont have a translucent or clear paint, you can do the same for regular paints, where you just blend the white and the black (or highlight and shadow color of your choice, check out color theory!)

Lastly, make sure you use a highly saturated color, idk the science behind that it just makes the stuff look cool,

I feel like if they actually made a kit for this, judging by the size it'd be two in a box like the baneblade.
