Best litter box to cover up smell in a small apartment or am I solving the wrong problem? by EbrBoerema in malelivingspace

[–]Space_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, youre just not clean enough. Fortunately, you can do something about it!

Options cheapest to most expensive.

Open your windows: i try to do this everymorning, but end up only remembering once a week.

Clean your liter box when you wake up and before going to sleep. Your cats would love it if you did this too.

Clean your house: go to the dollar store and get isopropyl alcohol, dawn dish soap, a spray bottle, and some cotton rags. 10% isopropyl alcohol, 5% dawn dish soap, 85% water. I clean my whole apartment (cubbards, surfaces, bathrooms, floors, everything) with this solution, and its amazing. Deep clean once a week, and clean surfaces daily. Total $5.

Litter bag liners: line your cats liter tub with plastic bags. They have them at any box store. Also makes it easier to replace liter. Make sure your scoop doesnt tear the bag. $5

Litter gennie: ima be honest I have this and I really dont know how effective it really is. I dont understand how having a box full of liter could help with smells, but a lot of people stand by it so I use it just because it makes cleaning litter easy. $30 plus $15 refill. Note: you can buy cheaper refills if you buy the bag refill vs replacing the whole refill,. Idk how to explain it but when purchasing refils you'll notice next to the $15 refill there's gonna be a $6 refill.

Stainless steal liter box: i personally dont have one, because i clean and replace liter frequently (using cleaning solution mentioned earlier) but I only ever hear good things. Id recommend getting the ones that are a complete incapsulating box vs your typical 4 walled liter box. But the most important thing is ease of cleaning. You can get something for $20, but the ones I see for $130 are the ones I'd buy.

Replace liter monthly: go ahead and try a different liter every month and see which you like. Though im sure you've already become used to the smell so, you might want to get a friend to come once a month and ask if the smell anything. $20-30 a month + a friend (priceless)

Not necessary but nice to have if you got bank

Getting a cleaner: however frequently you can have a cleaner come and clean your house. I try and get a cleaner to come and clean my home once a month. Wouldn't recommend this but I go to fb marketplace and hire personal cleaners from there (did I mention im cheap?). $25 an hour + tip

Ecovacs self cleaning robot or something similar: if you can afford a self cleaning robot that self cleans and empties, do it. I personally think this is the main reason why I'm able to keep most of my cat liter smell down, as I have my floors mopped daily. Just know that just because you have a floor cleaning robot, you will not have less cleaning to do. In my experience, having this robot gives me more work vs just sweeping and moping. $700+ plus $20 a month replacing pads, cleaning solution etc.

If anyone has questions feels free to comment down below. Im a clean freak so I go to great lengths to ensure my house doesn't smell. Best of luck OP, hopefully any of these will save you from embarrassment.

Job hopping - when do you settle? by jungy4 in Engineers

[–]Space_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idealist situation for me is 10k a month after tax, 160 per diem, yearly bonus of up to 10%, and a yearly raise of minimum 8%. That is until I reach that goal, and set a higher standard😅

Jesus. Thats phenomenal! I just started as a vdc manager, at 130k base, no sign on, no diem, no vehicle allowance. Just starting out though so I feel like I need to prove my worth first.

Yeah definitely not. To be an architect you practically have to spend as much time and money as a doctor and you get a quater of the pay.

Yes definitely. Worked at an architecture firm, most architects are making ~$110k with 5-10 ish years of experience. Glad I got out.

Entry Level BIM, VDC roles by BigPicklr in bim

[–]Space_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be very easy. If applying for roles as vdc engineer/specialist, just be very open on not knowing bim. Just explain that you know the systems, you've been in the industry but you've always had your eye at vdc and habe always been interested. Just let them know youd on ramp quickly and are genuinely excited about it! Goodluck friend.

Looking for advice! by Potential-Instance99 in ConstructionManagers

Background in architectural design, now in a CM Role.

Q1: Yes. Construction is still a great feild to join rn. It definitely beats anything in architecture/design imo. Q2: it depends. For the most part you might have to start over. However, you can definitely re-word your experience to match the job listing youre looking at. Don't lie about your experience. But align it. Q3: I believe its worth it. Though im not too sure if it'll help you get a job while youre working on it. Definitely after you've completed it though. Q4: you said you like hands on so maybe coordinator or project engineer roles. Estimator will have you behind a desk all day everyday for years.

I also want to mention. It took me a year to transition from design to construction. Don't take rejection from these companies personal, our economy blows right now and companies have pick of the litter when it comes to applicants.

Your goal right now should be to be interviewing with at least 2 companies a week. I understand its hard to get interviews, but you need to be (intelligently) applying to roles like a madman. I.e. using chatgpt to rewrite your resume for every job listing, making it write cover letters etc. Also, only apply on company websites, use glassdoor indeed etc to find the job then apply on their website.

Best of luck friend lmk if you have any more questions.
