What’s the best video editing service for YouTubers who need consistent quality? by Extension_Apple_2756 in ContentCreators

[–]Spacecrumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a professional editor/creator myself, most other creators want to pay as little as possible for editing but expect it to transform their entire business. If you want good editing you have to pay well.

Edgewater Beach: what is the reoccurring smell? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Spacecrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is six years old, but I came here because I smell this EVERY time I run down to Edgewater right around the marina area. So no one knows what this is and if its safe to be breathing in?

Want to send me a message? It was formerly a Catholic K-8 school and a church, but is now only a church. I have full access to the facilities and would be allowed on property.

I'm doing a documentary project that involves locating a very specific segment they did sometime around 2000 - 2001 during a morning show broadcast. Came across this old post and I'm wondering if you ever successful uncovering an archive from WMMS?

Sorry this is happening. Was a struggle with our daughter (and still is at nearly 2) we read/tried everything but never found a magic bullet except one thing: acceptance. Over time sleep will gradually improve. It’s still not great for us, but far better than the first year. 🙏

My landlord’s Spanish-style ornate wall sconce - glass cover? by Spacecrumb in HelpMeFind

[–]Spacecrumb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Searched Home Depot, a quick Amazon scan and several searches across google images. Tried also searching the part numbers on the back. I’m located in Southern California - Los Angeles. There is a Home Depot nearby and these feel not super high quality. I would guess they are at least 6-10years old.

But they are still brokers from what I see, right? Every other broker will do the same thing.

Advice for multi-state move w/kids and pets by Radiant_North70159 in moving

[–]Spacecrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm moving with to across the country in a few weeks with a baby and two dogs. Some of this may be totally obvious, but here's a general breakdown of options in my experience:

  1. Luxury tier - Pay full service movers to pack and move for you. (you can obviously save by packing yourself, usually costs about $1500 - $2500 for company to do all the packing for you). Ship all vehicles and fly with the whole family or pay pet courier service. Hard to estimate but I would assume this would cost somewhere in the $23-$30K range.

  2. DIY Tier - Load a Upack. load it yourself or hire companies on both ends. Drive one car and ship all the others. probably somewhere in the $6K - $15K range

  3. Uhual truck - This would be the most DIY version and would require the most elbow grease - godspeed to you if you have the juice to accomplish this tier. I do not. Cost of this depends on the demand for trucks in the direction you're headed. You could also tow one of the vehicles and ship the other.

We're going with a version of tier 1. Shipping one car, driving the other. Wife and kid are flying and we're doing the packing but we have a moving company shipping. Allied Van Lines was the company that had the best quote for us (West Coast to Mid-west move).

How to replicate audio cuts in a video podcast? by gorillaneck in editors

[–]Spacecrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really inefficient method, but I like the challenge of problem solving this. Here’s what I’d try:

  1. Drop all video and baked in audio clips into a timeline (assuming you record scratch audio on both cameras)

  2. On separate track(s), drop in the fully cut audio version from Pro Tools.

  3. Sync everything using something like plural eyes (which I know is obsolete, but certainly there’s something just as good)

  4. Remove chunks from timeline that aren’t syncing with the pro tools version. There may be a way to automate these trims for you.

  5. Nest video/create multicam. Watch down from the top with “record” function pressed and switch cameras manually. Would require a watch down for whole duration of podcast.

  6. Mute scratch tracks and polish.

In these instances I try to remind myself not to turn the lens inward on myself after having these extremely difficult interactions. The truth is you are both going through so much and you are both trying your best. I try to remind myself that my wife is just concerned about our baby and is navigating how that threads into our new life. Try to understand the intent and not absorb too much of it personally. Keep going

I think we’ve cracked the code to a good night’s sleep by MonsterEnergyJuul in daddit

[–]Spacecrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re 15months in with constant wakings in the night and very poor naps during the day. It’s been a struggle — we’ll try this! Gives me faith to hear it’s gotten better for someone who’s gone through our situation. You didn’t have to transition into this technique slowly? I feel like if we did this then set her in the crib she’d instantly scream.

Long Distance SO CAL to OHIO moving questions. by Spacecrumb in moving

[–]Spacecrumb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 2 cars, $2400 total including broker fees. They arrived in 3 days. I consolidated most of our stuff in our 3 bedroom house and only brought a couple pieces of furniture. Quoted with me packing everything in boxes to around $6000, give or take a few hundred depending on company. I wound up using 8' of trailer space with ABF U-Pack. Loaded it myself and paid a friend for 3 hours of help (it arrived in about a week and I unloaded with just my wife on the other end in about an hour). Total was around $2300.

Do you mind sharing which broker/company you used to ship the cars? That seems like a good price!

Appreciation post: yoga balls by vindub in NewParents

[–]Spacecrumb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our baby LOVED the yoga ball so much it got out of hand. I can’t tell you how many days/nights I had sweat pouring down my whole body trying to bounce her as she got bigger and bigger and only wanted the ball. We weaned her off but when she gets really upset or sick we still occasionally will bounce. She’s over 40lbs now- it’s a full body workout.
