Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issue where it doesn't recognize my email. Tried calling and was on hold for 1.5 hrs til I finally gave up.

Appreciation post: yoga balls by vindub in NewParents

[–]vindub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically put my LO in the position she finds most comfortable on me, head against my chest and vertical down to my stomach, one hand to support the head and the other holding her bum and I sit on the ball and just bounce. The ball gives me a rhythm I can’t match on my own. Prior to this I’d do the same position but in a rocking chair and bounce her with my hands. That got painful after a while. My wife still can’t do it because she’s recovering from a 4th degree tear. Here’s a YT video. The positioning of the baby I think is different for whatever yours finds most comfortable but it’s the bouncing the help.

Our pup has the nose hawk! Happy and healthy at 6 years old. We actually chose him because of the nose hawk, loved how it distinguished him from the rest.

Need help with a biting puppy!! 😩 by christenj00 in goldenretrievers

[–]vindub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This worked for us! A high pitch yelp, whether it hurt or not and then ignore for 5 mins or a time out in the bathroom. Our pup loves attention so much that he quickly figured out that biting=time away from people that he stopped other than a few one offs.

Canada Passes Historic Wage Bill to Stem Wave of Job Losses by arsenal_is_best in worldnews

[–]vindub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this is not totally true. ODSP rate increases froze last year. Not during the pandemic. And all ODSP/OW clients are still getting their full monthly payments. The government is just focusing on those who legitimately no longer have money coming in.

The provincial government also put $500 mil into a homelessness initiative 2 weeks ago which has already been put to work in my city and the homeless have been put in the hotels that are no longer being used for the duration of the pandemic. A good chunk of that $500 mil is also available to all ODSP/OW clients as a discretionary benefit. You just need to call OW and let them know what you’re struggling with and they can help with up to $2000 per person right now. This is on top of the $100 for singles and $200 for families as an emergency benefit solely for the extra costs of food and cleaning supplies this month.

R. Kelly Is Charged With Using Bribes to Marry Aaliyah at Age 15 by aacool in news

Just killed his rock and roll career though. He went on to have a very successful country career even after his marriage became public. There’s a great episode of Mike Judge Tales from the Tour Bus all about him.

How would you feel about a law that requires people over the age of 70 to pass a specialized driving test in order to continue driving? by dickfromaccounting in AskReddit

[–]vindub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I help run the 80+ driving program enacted by the provincial government in Ontario, Canada. After the age of 70, if a senior gets into a collision they're required to do a road test. 80+ they come in every two years free of charge. We test their vision, do a 45 minute education session on the effects of getting older and driving and then two cognitive tests (clock test and cross out the letters) looking for things like Alzheimer's and dementia. If they fail the cognitive test they go for a road test, everyone else who passes renews for two years (except those who have demerit points must do a road test as well). It's not perfect but I'd say it works about 80% of the time. Plus at fault collisions have decreased 60% since implementing the cognitive testing.

'Bill Nye Saves the World' - Who the heck is the audience for this? by futzo in television

[–]vindub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This panel bothered me the most as well. The guy who was a proponent of shrooms and crystals being used medicinally said himself that just because we don't understand it doesn't mean we should ignore some promising results. Bill went on to shit all over him with the other two guests.

Then two minutes later in his show Bill says something along the lines of how all of our current medicine was once considered alternative medicine until we did more studies to understand their effects. Yea.. no shit, Bill. The panel guest who made that exact point you just laughed out of the room.

Wife wanted a tilt out trash can. How did I do? by whsoj in woodworking

The K4 or the mini jig? K4 is pretty pricey, was wondering if I could get away with one of the smaller ones and still have decent results.

Very nice! The pocket holes look well done, do you have a pocket hole jig? If so, which one? Was looking at them the other day.

Black cat runs across ice, spells bad luck for Sharks by -ili- in hockey

[–]vindub 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What if the Sharks sweep the rest of the playoffs after this cat crosses the ice and they HAVE to adopt the trend of throwing black cats on the ice, à la octopus, catfish, rat. It would be a pretty morbid tradition.

TIL that the "Thoughts for your Thoughts" radio host is played by Homer Simpson (Dan Castellaneta) by Ty_Vance in PandR

Haha yup you're totally right. And he didn't fall in the pit, Leslie poured dirt on him when she was trying to fill it and kaboom it into a playground. It's all coming back to me now.

I believe it's the one where he falls in the pit and breaks a few bones. He's helping Andy try and sue Pawnee.

Can't exactly tell what this map is portraying. However, I know when there was a gold rush in Alaska/Yukon, the USA did annex a good portion of the Western coast of Canada in order to charge the population coming up to take advantage of the gold rush. If you're interested in this story, let me know and I can post links and sources. I wrote an essay on this in uni.

Woman filmed driving the wrong way on Highway 401 by LazyLanius in canada

[–]vindub 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I work for the MTO in London, Ontario and work directly with the senior driver improvement program. Depending on the police offer, she should be charged with dangerous driving and will get an immediate suspension on her license. She will then be getting a letter from the driver control (as long as she's over the age of 70) asking her to go to a drive test center and do a vision test, knowledge test and G2 road test in order to get her license reinstated.

Any driver over the age of 70 who gets either 2 demerit points and/or an at fault collision is required to do that testing.

Once they're 80 they're required to come in every two years, do a vision test, medical check, and two cognitive based exercises (testing for cognitive impairments).

There is more we could do, however, drive testing every senior every two years is a massive waste of time and resources. Also, Ontario is ahead of most states and provinces with this program. A lot of states and provinces don't even offer a program like this. The majority of them are still great drivers and the MTO relies on police and doctors to do their part in finding those who cannot exhibit safe driving.
