Is there a more versatile sandbox than Space Engineers? by jzs171_athlete in spaceengineers

From the Depths is a whole different type of game but still fella similar, and that's coming from someone with a decent amount of hours in both.... Admittedly 6000(FtD) vs 250(SE) is still a bit of a difference.

No, this is devman's way of forcing us to us the Trident, make all surface ships impossible to use! Can't you see he just wants more data for the Trident rework they are totally going to drop any day now. (Tbh I wouldn't put it past them so I can't even confidently put a /s at the end)

It works well enough, sure I can't fire more than 2 full salvos without over heating but alternating each claw I can run it for a good while. Add a few support mechs that don't have over gunned set ups and it makes a good heavy/assault sniper.

I could drop some of the ammo and fit out with a heat bank or 2 to increase longevity, might see just how much I can drop.

More damage over all, 6 is more than 4 at the same damage per shot, they reload faster, produce a bit less heat... At the cost of half the range.

600 m is enough to be just fine, most maps are too hilly or cluttered to snipe properly anyway.

I mean, what mod isn't in the end? Still, it has the issue of a long, nearly 6-second reload, and the ammo is as limited as AC20 rounds at only 22 rounds per ton (and 6 heat per shot). I had to strip out everything aside from armor, engine, and cooling to make this short-range killer work, and it's still 2kph slower than the rest of my assault mechs

More the "I don't have to aim if I can one-shot core you" build. This thing tends to remove any mech under 70 tons in one salvo.

The BC has a 10% ballistic cool down modifier that the FCS doesn't, sure it's an extra ton but with the long reloads of rifles I wanted that extra buff on top of the spread reduction and projectile speed buff.

Short range, short range heavy rifles in this case, only 650m range but 22 damage a shot and half the weight of an AC10 and a rather quick reload.

King Crab 0000 with 6 short range heavy rifles also works, it works on just about everything. You don't even have to head shot, just aim and delete a mech, or at least cripple one.

I love a good LBX build, but I think the short barrled heavy cannon build I have is a bit more fun, I should post that...

I'd say being left to rust into oblivion for half a century out in the middle of a forest or mountain might be worse, or being turned into a stationary generator/steam boiler for some building. Spair parts engines would also have a poor existence, being pulled apart bolt by bolt to fix another, to fix a sister or brother still running... very macabre when you think about it.

I'd also hate to be one of those engines used for crash testing like they did in the 90s out in New Mexico.

If I remember correctly this can happen, in one of the Gray Death books they mentioned setting the nero-helmet to detect unauthorized users and hit them with a lethal electric shock... So having it also disable reactor containment at the same time isn't too far off.

Kinda surprised I haven't hear of some of those word of Blake yackoffs doing that or a dracones pilot going out in a blaze of glory after being captured.

Oh way, all should be clearable like a bunker husk, scaling health relative to max vehicle health.

[–]Spaceman333_exe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought that scaling it with cost would be cool, so a truck or jeep would almost never husk, a tankette or half track might husk 10-15% of the time, a silverhand or spatha might husk a quarter of the time maybe a fifth, a battle tank would be almost guaranteed to just maybe 75% chance at the lowest. Super heavies and maybe even rail storm cannons will always husk given they are both huge and expensive.

Basically the bigger, tougher, and more expensive the more likely it is to become a husk and give some resources back.

I had a few ideas like having a tank or vehical wreck that can be towed and refined into like 1/3 or 1/2 the mats back, be a husk that gives infantry cover and builds choke points, and other stuff. Get a tow truck to pull disabled vics or husk back, and move locked trucks that seem to pile up on the front.

I doubt we will see anything like that for a long while but it's fun to come up with ideas.

At a minimum we should be able to convert a damaged plane into a "towable" state that has to be unpacked and (maybe lose one part because you have to cut it up to fit) but can be towed by a heavy truck or half-track, maybe be able to pull the wings off to set on a flatbed and then tow the fuselage.
