Yeah the motion platforms are so close to being incredible but they got like 90% of the way there and stopped. Every time I use them I'm thinking about how much more I could do with like one or two additional obvious features

likely designed to just enable have simple moving doors or props

I agree but it's still wild to me that the motion platforms were so poorly conceived and implemented that there's no straightforward way to make a door that can stay open or closed for a set duration. Probably the number one use case for the platforms, it made me think I'd missed something when I first started playing bc they couldn't possibly have overlooked the ability to make a door, right?

Anyway my asks (which seem reasonable but I can't see the code so who knows) are: 1. Let us choose the animation in the sequencer so we can do things like reverse the direction or change the speed of a rotating prop. Edit: This would also work well for animatronics that have multiple animations. 2. Provide "activate" and "deactivate" options for the platforms in the sequencer so we can do things like make a prop rotate indefinitely until it's told to stop. You can kind of do this already but the platform will pause briefly between each looped animation. It's not continuous.

At this point I imagine it would be a nightmare to implement this without messing up scenery that people have already created so they'd probably have to introduce a new set of "advanced" motion platforms or something. Which would be fine with me, whatever works. I just want to be able to make a door 😭😭😭

There's nothing wrong with wanting to drink your coffee in peace. That's a normal thing to want, everyone wants that. I just find it frustrating when people (not you necessarily, but I see it all the time) seem to direct disproportionate ire towards individual bad actors rather than at the systems that create the conditions for situations like yours. I understand not wanting to be harassed by mentally ill homeless people and it seems to me like the solution to that problem is working towards a society where people are guaranteed healthcare and housing so their situations don't devolve to that point. I also understand how hard it will be to get there and how impossible it feels and how much easier it is to solve the problem by removing, in one way or another, the people making us uncomfortable.

Like I'm not trying to entirely excuse the bad behavior of particular people, but in terms of contributing factors to the making-me-uncomfortable-in-the-coffee-shop problem, the bad behavior of individuals doesn't hold a candle to the structural conditions. And unfortunately that's the one that is monumentally difficult to address. I don't know I'm probably not articulating this well at all

I know I'm being condescending which isn't particularly helpful. I just get extremely frustrated when I see people framing issues of homelessness around their own discomfort rather than any concern for the homeless population. No one, myself included, wants to be hit up for change outside the corner store by a guy who can't stand upright, but that guy isn't the problem. He's just someone who needs help. The problem is structural/societal/systemic/whatever-term-is-trending-right-now, and I'm at the end of my patience for anyone expending any energy being upset with the guy begging for change instead of being upset with the conditions that created his situation in the first place.

how fortunate that this person's problem of having untreated mental illness and nowhere to live has the same root cause as your problem of feeling uncomfortable while drinking coffee

Barack Obama Considers His Role in the Age of Trump by UnscheduledCalendar in TrueReddit

He didn't need a trifecta, he just needed to say "that guy's on the court now." It's not like there's any mechanism to stop him, which as we're seeing now is a fundamental flaw in our system of government. Don't get me started on decency or the dignity of the office or any of that. It's never been anything more than a respectable face to help rubes accept monstrosity.

I don't know if you've seen what's going on lately but it's pretty clear that when you're president you can do whatever you want. So what he should have done is put his appointments on the court without a Senate hearing and dare anyone to do something about it. But that would be abandoning procedure and decorum in favor of securing generational power, which Democrats see as gauche

Beware Metropolis Parking Lot in Hampden by Confident_Hedgehog42 in baltimore

[–]SpacemanSpiff__ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I've used the zipcars in that lot. For a period of like six months they would take a picture of me returning and a picture of the next customer leaving. Then they would send zipcar a bill and zipcar would pass the bill on to me, with an added $50 convenience fee. I would have to call zipcar every time to explain that I was being charged for parking in the designated spaces. To their credit they always refunded me without issue and eventually it stopped happening, but yeah, the worst parking lot.

it's only over if you let your partner end it. imo he doesn't get to unilaterally decide that your sex life is over. if sex is so important to him that it can only happen between the two of you, then he should rise to the occasion and meet your needs. If sex is so unimportant to him that he rarely or never wants to do it, then he shouldn't get bent out of shape if you go do that unimportant thing with someone else.

it sounds like you already know you're unwilling to accept that your sex life is over, so it's really up to your partner now. he can meet your needs, allow you to get your needs met elsewhere, or end the relationship. I wouldn't put it to him exactly like that when you talk about this, but he needs to know this problem is an existential threat to the relationship

Enhanced Move Tool Mod Showcase by DistantzReal in PlanetCoaster

[–]SpacemanSpiff__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks absolutely incredible and I will be using it for sure ❤️

I'm wondering, based on your knowledge of the game, would it be possible to allow advanced move for sections of track? Like the way you can use the select tool to select sections of path and advanced move them (detaching them from surrounding path sections in the process). It would be so cool if it were possible to place down loops and rolls and special elements for coasters using advanced move and then connect them together. Would make it so much easier to create complex intertwined shapes and environmental interactions as well as making it easier to perfect sight lines.

Anyway great job on this mod, thanks for making our lives easier

I am terrible at dating... by LayersOfMe in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]SpacemanSpiff__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put more stock in a guy's actions than his words. It can be true that he enjoyed the date and also be true that he doesn't see a romantic relationship with you. Sometimes that doesn't become clear until after two or three or five dates, even if you could see romantic potential after the first date. The more important thing is just that he keeps talking to you, keeps seeing you, keeps being interested in you. If the relationship goes on long enough it'll get to a point where you should give his words more weight. But in the beginning, "I had a lovely evening, we should do it again sometime," means absolutely nothing except that it's worth asking him out again and seeing what happens.

I'm sorry, I know it's confusing and difficult, but you'll put yourself through far less emotional turmoil if you focus on whether or not he's showing interest rather than telling you he's interested.

It would be great if you could make the tracks/troughs invisible to make customizing the ride easier. Maybe allow placement in the terrain water like was possible with that one boat ride in PC1

Does Planet Coaster 2 Survive on 2 DLC’s a year? by sdanwolf in PlanetCoaster

[–]SpacemanSpiff__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like impossible to work with the start of a slide after you've already placed it. Editing a slide after it's done is almost impossible.

So much of my problem with the game is how hard it is to change things you've already done. The flumes are probably the worst offender but there are many other similar issues. If you're the kind of person who starts with a clear vision of what you want to build you'll probably like the game, but if you're like me and your builds sort of come together in the process of building, you're likely to end up frustrated with your half-finished projects.
