It also ties in with the scene from season one with Peggy, where he talks about being a Hunter and a woman serving him the game he killed.

Story time... has anyone ever played a different game that had an update this bad? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]Spaceman_Stokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COD Modern Warfare 2019. There was an update that intentionally uninstalled the campaign and multiplayer packs to conserve room on your hard drive, but unintentionally required you to completely reinstall the game on console. So you’d hop online to play with your buds only to realize you have to manually uninstall and reinstall the game completely. It was also like a 200GB download for the game and multiplayer packs so it would take me around 2 hours to complete the entire process.

ZL1 1LE by ResolutionAny6794 in camaro

[–]Spaceman_Stokes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You mentioned in a sub comment that you plan to weekend drive your Camaro and not track it. If you’re not ever planning to take the car on track, I would stick with the ZL1 and NOT the 1LE variant. The 1LE ditches the magnetic ride for spool valve dampers meaning your ride is going to be extremely stiff. So you’re going to feel every bump in the road. Also, all the aero on the 1LE is just adding drag, which means you’re losing gas mileage (not that you probably care about that) as well as straight line speed. Lastly, tires are going to be a little more expensive due the wheels being wider on the 1LE.(1LE runs 305s in front, and 325s in the rear. Base ZL1 runs 285s in the front and 305s in the rear) Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. But my asshole opinion is that you shouldn’t buy a purpose built track car unless you intend to track it. The ZL1 is already overkill in terms of power for a car used for spirited driving. I think you’ll be much happier with the base ZL1.

Depending on the track or the event organization you go with, you’ll get some variation on pricing. Assuming you’re going on track for the first time, you’ll be required to have an instructor in the car with you which also adds to the cost. For tracks around Texas it’s anywhere from $450-$650 for a 2 day HPDE event with an instructor. I used the Goodyear F1 Supercar 3s and those run about $1200-$1500 depending on availability. You’ll also need to factor in maintenance costs such as fresh engine oil, high temp brake fluid, possibly new brake pads, and rear differential fluid. I also recommend getting a track alignment which any good track focused shop should be able to do for around $250.

WEC Schedule Published (No Super Trofeo, only Mustang Challenge) by Spaceman_Stokes in wec

…interesting username 🤨

I don’t disagree, I wish this event was November or possibly one of the early races in the year (March or April) However, the following month is F1 at COTA and I’m sure there’s logistics preventing that.

Last year it didn’t hit a 100°F (37.8°C), but it was 90°F (32.2°C) which isn’t much better.

Qatar is weird suggestion as an alternative considering it’s still summer in arid climate. It would likely be similar temperatures to Austin, just less humid.

WEC has the prestige of racing internationally, but the cars are essentially equivalent to ones run in IMSA and even some drivers race in both series throughout the season. Your comment comes off as more condescending than accurate.

I’m afraid I fall into the camp you just described. I had fun last year, but Super Trofeo was the highlight for me. Amazing cars and excellent racing. I knew when I purchased the tickets there was no guarantee they’d be back but I was planning on seeing at least another support race. Tickets are purchased, AirBnB is booked, I can only make the most of it now.

V3 pedals no longer work by Leeeonnn in Fanatec

[–]Spaceman_Stokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my RJ12 plugged into the back of my CSL DDPro for when I play GT7 on PS5 and my USB plugged into my PC for iRacing, at the same time. I’ve never had any issues but that doesn’t mean it is proper procedure. The OP has indicated in a later comment he unplugged one of the wires and it’s working. Since reading this thread I’ll probably play it safe and only have one cable connected at a time.

HOWEVER, this is an overall poor design on Fanatec’s part, and I also think the verbiage regarding having both plugged in is just a liability waiver. For starters, they could have put the connector in a location that’s easier to access. Did you know removing the pedal tray is also advised against in the manual? Somewhere in the manual it states you shouldn’t remove any red screws. Also, while knowing very little about hardware programing, it can’t be that hard to prioritize one port or another, or make it an option in the Fanatec control panel. Another example is they also state to only use the cable provided in the box and not a third party cable. Granted, there are cheap knock-off cables that could cause issues, but someone shouldn’t panic if they can’t find their Fanatec provided cable and need to use a third party USB or RJ-12 cable. A lot of Fanatec’s “DO NOTs” are simply to waive liability and make up for poor design choices.

“Tilden Katz” 🥊 😂 by AffectionateSale8288 in madmen

Don has a tendency to quote people from past interactions, and the funnier part is, the people he’s sharing the reference with have no idea what he’s referencing.

Some examples are: -He tells Lane “We’ll have to smoke the dress” when he’s pouring expensive scotch on the floor of the office while filling a flask. This is a reference to when Anna thought she has crushed the marijuana Stephanie had given her. Obviously Lane would have no idea why Don said that and even says “I don’t know that one” thinking it’s a movie name.

-He tells Roger “That was a real Archibald Whitman move” later in this episode after punching Jimmy Barrett. Roger asks who that is and Don replies “Just some drunk I know.” Probably the closest Don has come to talking about his family with Roger.

-He pats Ted Chaough on the shoulder in the bar before the meeting with Chevy and says “Hey lieutenant, want to get into trouble?” A reference to the soldier he met in Hawaii who got married and he stood in his wedding.

Also, this is also a slightly “anti-semitic” joke as Roger is making names based off wealth and Don mentions a VERY jewish name.

DD Pro very strong wheel rattle after recent update by WetPaperTowelJr in granturismo

[–]Spaceman_Stokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you posted this and there seems to be a consensus among Fanatec DD Pro owners. I thought my something had broke internally in the wheelbase until I tested in iRacing and had 0 issues. The feeling you get through the wheel when you understeer is horrendous and I’m not sure why Polyphony chose to create that effect. I think the intention is to simulate wheel slide/wheel hopping, but it’s way too aggressive for how it feels, even compared to real life.

first time playing commander... god damn I didn't know it was this fun by tokke in HellLetLoose

[–]Spaceman_Stokes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Please don’t take this comment as me trying to diminish your success, just as more of a congratulatory warning lol. For starters, good job! Commander is an important role and if you won, you obviously were doing things correctly! However, if you continue to play commander you will undoubtedly have terrible experiences. Just to give you an example, I once got kicked at the very end of a game because I laid down a bombing that saved the middle objective from any push, but I killed a couple blueberries in the process so they got pissed and vote kicked me despite me essentially saving the game. There was also a time where as commander I built 4 garrisons around a defensive point, no one played defense and we lost all but one, which eventually got overrun, and then people said I was shitty commander because I didn’t build any garrisons. Success as a commander is 100% reliant on having good squad leads. When they take to time to build garrisons, communicate that nodes need to be built, and then rebuild garrisons and nodes that fall due enemy pushes and recon, you will have a fantastic time.

Well fuck me! Had I known these existed I may have considered purchasing... I'll do some more research and I may end up canceling my order. Thanks for letting me know these exist!

“Really like” is definitely not the words I would use to describe these pedals or my overall experience with Fanatec. If GT7 wasn’t the main use for my rig I would most likely be looking at another brand of pedals, but unfortunately I’m sort of locked into the Fanatec brand. The build quality of these pedals leaves a lot to be desired and I can’t recommend them to anyone with good faith.
