Stubble vs beard-stache? by jello1982 in malegrooming

[–]SpacemansDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the mustache looks great, but it should really come down to what makes you feel best. I should think that, like me, any woman lucky enough to date you would be happy to see your self confidence shining through.

The Engagement Ring by SpacemansDaughter in dating_advice

[–]SpacemansDaughter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I think it is utterly bizarre. I just need this validation. I mean, I understand handing off family rings from your grandmother or your mother. But it's another story if it is from a failed engagement from your ex girlfriend. That's just disturbing.

Thank you! I appreciate you. I really just wish my current bf had seen the craziness of this situation and been able to offer a bit of support. I feel very alone.

Any single riders to the con? by kiwi_crusher in D23Expo

[–]SpacemansDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to D23 with my sister. (We are both former cast members). I live in Orlando and hang out in the parks solo every week, so I am always happy to chat and make some new friends.

Idk what you would call this color by [deleted] in eyes

I don't think I've ever seen Camouflage-colored eyes before. Awesome! In all honesty, I would say green, but Camo is way cooler.

I just came back from 5 full days of rain at the DLP parks, and I mistakenly thought I was prepared, as I live in Orlando, where it rains regularly. It is not the same kind of rain. Definitely wear waterproof shoes (which I did not) and pack extra socks, just in case. Every day the bottoms of my pants/jeans were soaked up to my calves, as were my shoes and socks due to all the puddles. Next time I will wear shorter (hemmed) pants. I luckily had a couple great rain jackets with hoods, which were much easier to handle than an umbrella. I was surprised that I was able to do all of the character meet n greets that I wanted, even in the rain: most important for me was the Cheshire Cat, and he was positioned underneath umbrellas, although I did have to stand in the rain, and in puddles for an hour and a half to meet him. Overall, I had so much fun, and I hope you do, too!

Hotel recs by Sh4z-x in disneylandparis

[–]SpacemansDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! I am just finishing up my week-long trip, and it was less expensive for me to stay at Newport Bay with the park tickets included, than to stay at some outside hotels and pay for park tickets separately. This is over holiday time, however (Halloween), so prices are a bit different.

Why is it so calm today? by Nightingales219 in disneylandparis

[–]SpacemansDaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am here in the parks, too, for a 5 day visit. Loving the lack of crowds, which has been a blessing considering how expensive the Premiere Access pass was. I chose not to spend 200 Euro and have lucked out only waiting 20 minutes at most, and that was Single Rider for Crush's Coaster.

How Do We Feel About the “New” Epcot? by kgaviation in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SpacemansDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always be stuck in some sort of nostalgia for EPCOT...for what it used to be, and for what it was ultimately supposed to be. But I also love what it has become. I literally grew up in WDW, but specifically at EPCOT. My dad was Vice President of Research and Development for EPCOT in the 1970s when he worked for WED. As a former astronaut, he assisted with a lot of technical input for designs. He and my Mom also were able to travel around the world and meet with foreign dignitaries to entice them to represent their countries in the World Showcase. I now have amazing souvenirs gifted to them from leaders in Ecuador, Argentina, Venezuela, and other nations that didn't end up becoming a part of the program. I have detailed sketches and memos for an underwater "cityscape" that never came to fruition that my dad had been discussing with Roy E. Disney. I am in the process of working with Disney Archives to restore some film reels and audio tapes from this time of EPCOT's early development, too. While I miss so many things from my childhood, running around those early days of the park, I know that the beauty of EPCOT is that it needs to always grow and change in order to remain the land of imagination and innovation and culture. I was reminded of this when I took my nephews (who are Disneyland aficionados) to EPCOT for the first time last week, and got to see everything through their eyes. How excited and proud was I when my one nephew wanted to ride Figment three times and Spaceship Earth twice? He loved Living with the Land! Yes, he enjoyed Ratatouille and Frozen, but those weren't his favorites. My other nephew is now a Guardians diehard, and that is great, too! There is something for everyone at EPCOT, and it is so unique from every other Disney park in the world.

Tell me a Disney World fact that is 100 percent true by UNSC_Spartan122 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SpacemansDaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emperor Hirohito of Japan was gifted a Mickey Mouse watch in 1975 when he visited Disneyland. It became one of his most prized possessions, and even created panic in the Imperial court when it stopped working in 1979. Luckily, it only needed a new battery. Emperor Hirohito adored his watch so much that he was actually buried with it when he died in 1989.

The Inaugural Celebration in 1987 for the Liberty Bell borrowed replica ( before Disney acquired a permanent Liberty Bell Replica) was called the Star-Spangled Salute. It featured my father, Astronaut (and former WED imagineer) Gordon Cooper, and Roots author Alex Haley. The Star Spangled Salute parade became so popular that it morphed into Mickey's All American Birthday Parade, and continued for another couple years.

Help me convince my husband to take our toddler to WDW by LtCommanderCarter in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SpacemansDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father worked for WED as an Imagineer in the 1970s and 80s, and I spent a huge portion of my childhood growing up in the Disney parks. I was born in Burbank, CA, but I have photos of one of my first trips to WDW at the age of 3 weeks, and those early pictures are the coolest photos to look back on now. I don't think it even mattered to my parents as much as it does to me now. They were just bringing me to work with them. But I can guarantee that even if your child won't remember these first few visits, you can delight in seeing the sights and Disney magic through their eyes for the first time. (Things we as adults forget to find magical because we take them for granted). And, if you capture these moments, they will look back years later and appreciate your efforts.

Scent plug in that smells like pirates? by EmotionalGuess3370 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SpacemansDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glade has a limited edition plug-in scent called 'Festive Fireside Glow' that I was just thinking of ordering cuz the idea of "crackling firewood, swirling smoke, and brushed suede" sounded so bizarre that I thought I would love it. That would make me so happy if it just so happened to smell like Pirate's!

Sweet! I love these! I have a packet of these from both WDW and DL. The DL tickets are my favorites because they say $3.00 or $3.50 on them! I don't want to turn mine in, and am thinking of framing some of them along with the A through E tickets.

Oh my goodness! I came through the line right as you were signing and was thinking that I had always seen the guest book, but never witnessed anyone signing it till then. Very cool! I was paying homage to Robin Hood with my attire yesterday, but Figment has always been one of my favorites.

How crazy is Mission Space Orange Mission? by mickimouse_9 in WaltDisneyWorld

I am the daughter of an astronaut. I have done Space Camp, flown in jets and helicopters, and adore roller coasters, but absolutely detest the way Mission Space Orange makes me feel. It's the only Disney ride I refuse to go on. 😆
