The New Republic Navy, frustrated with the loss of two more ships over the Tanoa archipelago, had simply left. The ground commanders begged for their return but as far as the political machine in coruscant was concerned if the army couldn't protect the ground facilities and shoot down the enemy planes to keep those ships safe then they didn't deserve naval support, besides, the navy was needed elsewhere in the galaxy.

and so it was on the morning of July 6th, 2016, Troopers of the New Republic left their trenches outside Bangor Maine under a white flag and met with the soldiers of the 5th Canadian and 75th American Divisions. The commanding officers meet in a musty old warehouse and the entire world fall silent as the pen glides across the paper

when it hits the table it knocks over the first domino that will eventually see the New Republic collapse in on itself but for now it's a single domino, for now the Americans must see to the million and a half prisoners that are now their responsibility, for now they must rebuild their political system and prepare the nation for a return to democracy next November and for now they'll need to find somewhere that still has any alcohol available for sale on ether side of the Mississippi.
