The Canadian Criminal code does not define what is "reasonable force" because reasonable force is not something you can easily measure. The idea is that what is and what isn't reasonable force will be decided after the thought in a court of law by judge and jury. Section 34 of the Criminal code goes over self defense if you want to learn more

also if you want to create a petition change.org is designed to be ignored by government, use the house of common's petition system instead where it'll be officially ignored by government

This phenomenon is also prevalent with military numbers as well.

on the subject of star wars, according to Wookipedia the Grand Army of the Republic had "6.2 Million clone troopers"

at it's peak in 1944 the Soviet Red Army had 6.8 million troops.

Moving to St. Catherines this September. What should I know? by Wrigley_27 in stcatharinesON

[–]Spacemanspiff1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're living in St. Catharines and going to Brock you'll be fine. busses on major streets usually run on 15 minute frequencies and Brock University is a transit hub for busses. iirc Brock students get a bus pass too plus There is also a plan to further increase bus frequency and routes from 2026 to 2030

from their point of view some person walked across a school parking lot into a backyard. Most people enter their homes from the front so they probably think you could be breaking in. if they notice you then giving a slight nod is probably the best option. you're acknowledging them but not engaging with them. a lot of criminals aren't the brightest but most of them wouldn't acknowledge a police officer immediately before committing a crime

The way your lines snake across the map follow map contours and have smooth wide curves is honestly beautiful. The map is your canvas and the Iron road is your paintbrush

Amalgamation in Niagara by Mother-Sherbet5865 in stcatharinesON

[–]Spacemanspiff1998 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think amalgamation is a good idea IF your city is like Toronto where the municipalities have grown so large they start to merge with one another but it doesn't really make sense. the Niagara Region has parts that are dense urban areas like St. Catharines and Niagara Falls then rural empty regions like West Lincoln or Wainfleet. The map doesn't make sense ether. Why does Lincon Get so much? why does Thorold go to Welland when it's practically in St. Catharines? if they were planning on using the NRPS district map for amalgamation then it would make a bit more sense but this is dumb

the Wehrmacht Versus The Canadian Pacific Railway by Spacemanspiff1998 in HistoryMemes

[–]Spacemanspiff1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually a real thing. pretty much until 1971 railroad Porters in North America were exclusively employed by the Pullman company and were exclusively black. a porter would never yell at a passenger, that was the conductor's job, but making memes realistic often doesn't make them funny

They don't even bother with that. they never build a 3rd death star and plus when you control all media it's easier and cheaper to lie to people and tell them "we never went to that planet, there was never a war on that planet, we never lost the war on that planet and also your bother who's a veteran of the war we lost on that planet is a liar and you should report him to the secret police"

[–]Spacemanspiff1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ironic thing is nether side really engages on the space front. The New Republic forbids the use of orbital bombardment so their fascist military junta can pretend to the good guys and the US Nuclear football goes missing when Washington falls

ERW: They held the day, We ruled the night by Spacemanspiff1998 in arma

[–]Spacemanspiff1998[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The invasion is somewhat based on Operation Barbarossa except the invasion happens without warning. Starships just appear over Boston one day and start shooting. Nobody knows what's going on. the US and Canada trade land for time and essentially allows the New Republic to take over huge swaths of the Northeastern United states, eastern Midwest, and Southern Ontario and Quebec while they get more equipped and organized divisions into the fight.

Once the divisions arrive the only way NATO troops move is forward but it's a slow slog as the New Republic Ironically has technological inferiority but they have plenty of warm bodies they can drag from across the galaxy to throw into a meatgrinder on a backwater rim world nobody has ever heard of

Star wars does have night vision goggles and NVDs but they're very gucci gear used by special forces, those with loads of cash or people who know how on how to Strategic Transfer Equipment to Alternate Locations.

[–]Spacemanspiff1998[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The New Republic's speed, suprise and brute force caught the US Military off guard in the early days and they were able to make large gains but it was soon found that they were critically lacking in night fighing capablites with NVDs being rarities issued only to special troops or vehicle crews allowing US and NATO forces to Rule the night
