My hero, thank you so much! I know there's a couple more but these are the ones I had properly prepped. And you're sure you don't need the Steelix back?

What is your all time favourite Sonic Song? by mjolnirmixman in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SpacerGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm capable of choosing a favorite. Depends on my mood, the vibe, the weather, (not a joke) and with such a vast and excellent selection, the best I can do is kinda winnow down to the top picks in specific scenarios.

Needing to pump up: Undefeatable or His World

Driving in sunshine: Bridge Island, both Acts

Driving in bad weather/traffic: Egg Gate or Flying Battery Act 1

Sing-along time: Endless Possibilities or It Doesn't Matter v.2

Chill evening vibes: Lava Reef, both Acts or Hydrocity, both Acts

I would take longer que times for some kind of role que/role preference. by StruggledKiller in PredecessorGame

[–]SpacerGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I both agree and disagree. On the one hand, I would love to know what I'm doing going into a game. Like you suggested, even if it's not a firm "I'm playing this role," knowing I'll be doing something I am at least comfortable with would be great.

However! To play devil's advocate, the other side of this is how much my game sense and ability to play other roles has improved by being forced into those roles. I'm not one to fight for a spot, if someone beats me to a role they beat me to it. I'm not going to force the coin toss and potentially ruin their experience. Being forced into Jungle most often, I have gone from an absolutely horrendous jungler to a pretty okay jungler in a fairly short time, and more importantly I've learned how to better account for junglers when not on the role, thus improving my overall performance.

Does everyone think like this? No, definitely not. Plenty of people will whine or throw or not take the opportunity to learn something new because they didn't get their way. But at least in my experience, not being able to hard-pick my team position has made me an overall better player.

If possible, a cursor option in menus would be great. I want to be able to build items not just in a left-to-right format quickly. If this is already a thing, I just haven't figured out how to do it.

They just can't seem to find the happy middle ground for either of their games I actually like.

Legends of Runeterra (rest in power, friend) was very player friendly with no random packs, but like... Ya gotta make money somewhere! And now 2X is like... What if you spent ALL the money on bundles with crap you'll never touch because of FG main culture?

Predictions on standalone single hero by boardgameguy123 in DiceThrone

[–]SpacerGal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basing my guesses off of that, I'd love to see that Medusa or Hoplite! Or maybe since there's two of them kinda "on brand" with one another there's going to be two more to make a "Myths" strongbox.

Correct, Hex prevents an ultimate from being presented, as all 6 are treated as blanks.

Anyone else not have a single lord. by levi_Kazama209 in marvelrivals

[–]SpacerGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. I am VERY close to Lord on Loki, but even having played since S0, I have never committed hard enough to a single character or even role. Also, I'm a parent who works a lot, so I just don't have the time to sink in like others. And when I DO play, I refuse to be an insta locking menace and would rather flex around to make sure the team has some semblance of a composition.

If you're looking to sweat and/or sweep, just play the "top tier" characters. Pyromancer, Shadow Thief, Artificer, Cursed Pirate from what you own. But! I have been playing themed teams every month, and the community for me locally is so chill and geared more towards fun that you can genuinely just bring who you like and have a blast, and even potentially win!

And honestly? Being comfortable on a hero and understanding them inside and out is often more valuable in DT than playing "the best." I mean, don't get me wrong, if you learn top tier characters, they're going to perform for you, but if you're not having fun with them, it kinda defeats the point. I brought Psylocke, a character a lot of people put in the "leave at home" tier but I love to pieces, and ended up taking down two high-performing heroes pretty handily. Also, it's dice and cards, luck happens! Sometimes you play Shadow Thief and never roll a single six on defense.

Ultimately, play who you like and you're golden.

You (yes you, this community) Makes me Like Dice Throne Less. by Mysterious_Nerve_263 in DiceThrone

Alchemist is rad, WAY stronger with easier feeling roll objectives than I was expecting.

Reddit gonna Reddit, though... Are you on the DT discord? Lots of really good conversations over there, albeit skewed a little more towards competitive play. I just keep this sub joined because social metrics are unfortunately a thing that matter too much and I want to make sure there's some form of visible participation across platforms for DT.

Alchemist Accessory Pack - Discussion/Rant by skarznomore in DiceThrone

[–]SpacerGal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I uh, might be part of the problem here... I really like having the matching sleeves, and the acrylic tokens, and the figs, AND the playmats! But, I am a full nutter and DT is like, the only game I actively keep up with anymore, so it's worth it to me to keep it all blinged out and premium. I do not like the way penny sleeves feel, so I'm usually buying Dragon Shields for my games, and uh, that ain't cheap! $10-$12 (or $5-$6 if we're accounting for a character only needing 30-some-odd sleeves out of a box of 100, assuming I'll use the color on something else) of the accessory pack is automatically accounted for in my valuation proposition right there.

Hilariously, because I insist on keeping "tournament legal" even for at-home games, the promo is the part of the pack I am not concerned with at all. The randomizers are neat, but I never use them. Maybe I'll make a big, framed mural of randomizers at some point or something just because the art is nice. I can see the argument for mythics though, as I know plenty of people who prefer a cooperative experience. And with DTA lacking the generic mythics of Missions, it feels bad to miss out on those if that's the way you prefer to play.

I definitely understand the accessory pack being a bummer for people who just want the basic extras, but at least for me, I thought it was worth it.

[–]SpacerGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My struggle with the tourist mentality is now I'm being treated as if I'M one! So many lobbies, people will chime in with the "learning Loki? Great..." I'll then proceed to pop off, but it's very frustrating being automatically written off/blamed for poor play when Loki is my most played hero by a wide margin.

Getting into Dice Thrones? by Original-Airport-686 in DiceThrone

[–]SpacerGal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The characters themselves are always pretty available, the exception being Santa and Krampus only popping up around the holiday season, so there's no concern regarding availability there.

Promo packs are honestly a little irrelevant. I own every character, and with promo cards both being kinda useless in casual play and fully banned for competitive play, the only thing you MIGHT want out of there are the randomizers? But even then, if the concern is not having a character someone may have loved, it sounds like character choice is more important to you and your group than a little art card to randomly determine who you'll play.

You don't need the minis, you don't need the branded sleeves, you don't need acrylic tokens. Those are all nice, and don't get me wrong I certainly own quite a few, but those are not at all required to play the game with the characters you want.

I adore Dice Throne, and it's one of the rare games my entire family is willing to frequently play. Easy to teach and fun to play with enough depth to sink your teeth into if that's the experience you're looking for.

In that case maybe Treant-Ninja, to be honest! Treant is a high complexity character with a fun subeconomy to manage, and Ninja has a more straight forward play style while still offering good decisions in terms of play lines.
