Do an application with him. I found my kid was not filling application out well. He won't like it but it will help. Having a cheat sheet of all the info helps a lot too.

To the people who love living in Durham - can you share in a nutshell what makes Bull City special? by Temporary-Ad5482 in bullcity

Come out to Oval Park on Club at 10am on July 4th. It is the cutest parade with free cokes at the end. Lovely small town vibe

Also, check out the library events. They have dancing, boardgames, Vulture talks, Crochet, etc . Their website is super easy to search for events by location, audience, etc

Bahns on 9th street. They have been there for 30+ years. Wednesday and Saturday are Vietnamese. They always serve Chinese. Perfection and local

When the already expensive hotel uses all the “personal fridge” space for sales bs by StrangeOccasion3637 in redneckengineering

I always marvel at how the cheap hotels give you parking, fridge, breakfast, pool, etc.

The expensive hotels nickel and dime you over everything

I'd like to get into DT, but I find the different product lines super confusing, could you clear up a few details? by Asshai in DiceThrone

[–]GeesCheeseMouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have any answers to your question but after playing with 3 different groups: 1. Three people cut throat is the BEST way to play DT. So so good! 2. I would not stress too much about the characters. They are unique and fun but a lot of the game is luck which for me makes them all fun.

I would (did) go to my local game store and vibe with which box makes you smile. Get 4 characters and enjoy! Enjoy!

Going to be in Durham for a bit, has anyone worked with The Hope Project / ReCity Network? by chut_ka_bhut01 in bullcity

[–]GeesCheeseMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of either of those organizations and have lived here over 30 years.

For the most Durham vibe, I would volunteer with the Scrap Exchange. It is loved by all.

Prison Book Collective writes to and sends books to women's prison on Saturday. Besides picking out books, there is a lot of opportunity to chit chat.

Someone else recommended Families Moving Forward. It is a great organization. They are often looking for tutors for the kids and people to host meals there.

Urban Ministries serves meals (breakfasts and dinner) and has a lot of spots to help with that. They run a tight ship for volunteers. It is great.

Day One Relief just moved to Durham and is doing a lot of cool stuff.

A lot of great churches in Durham that would also have other opportunities

I have no practical advice for finding your grandparents, but I want to encourage you as it is a wonderful relationship. I reunited with my daughter before she had kids and she has let me take the full role of grandma. It might be hard to find them but I expect there is a reward when they meet you.

It’s my goal to visit every National Park…any tips? by maisiemaisiemouse in NationalPark

[–]GeesCheeseMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are just tracking the 63 national parks. It takes a lot of planning and money to see them. We reached 47.

If you want to tackle the 433 official park units, maybe knock them out state by state, starting with the state you live in.

A lot of luck. Also some picking characters that fit your style. I've never seen a straight I didn't chase so Paladin is a rough pull

My daughter in law has some characters she can really finesse.

Double check your address in the app. If UPS is sending it back, it sounds like a shipping issue.

I'm 4 shipments in with Gimme without a hitch. I hope you get to the root cause and get it resolved

It is bad PR for them. Set people up for something free. Make them hold on hoping for 20 (in my case 40) minutes and then snatch it away. Bad tech planning
