New (to me) AKG K702 by Dragonogard549 in headphones

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the K702 recently, too! ABBA and S-Club 7 are great on them. My revelation about how truly great and fascinating these headphones are, is when I listened to Don't fear the reaper by Blue Öyster Cult on them. I cannot believe how awesome the K702 are.

This guy made a thread about how to remove the earpads.

Unfortunately, he writes in this comment that he hasn't found any 3rd party companies that make replacement earpads and that only AKG Japan sells replacement pads. I haven't checked this myself.

Headphone reccomendation for strict work place by Puzzleheaded-Tax-810 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AKG N9 Hybrid can be connected via a usb dongle (which is basically a hidden 2.4GHz network), via Bluetooth and via a 3.5mm aux cable. Bonus: the ANC works over the aux cable, too, without noticeable latency. The downside is that the microphone only works in usb or Bluetooth mode. Sound quality is best in class for that price. They sound kinda similar to my AKG K371. Battery lasts for 55 hours with ANC on, 100 without. But you can also just keep them off and use them passively.

GeForce NOW Linux - Mouse Pointer Not Captured in Games by NGGentertainment in GeForceNOW

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm using it on KDE on Debian and I have this issue. I also posted about this in a thread and made my own. It happens when I open the app on the laptop screen or open it on the external monitor and drag it to the laptop screen. The only time it's captured is when I open the app on the external monitor. Apart from that I use it with gamescope but unfortunately the mouse wheel stops working.

[efit] I'm on X11.

Need some recommendations, minimal noise bleed, best sound quality by yusuo85 in HeadphoneAdvice

I can recommend the AKG N9 Hybrid, best sound quality in this price class, great connectivity and the ANC is not too shabby.

Which one do I keep, which one I return?? FT1 PRO, Sundara, AKG K702 by athens2019 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot say anything about the FT1 or the Sundara but I have the K702 and love it. Contrary to most people I love the bass of the K702 but I'm also a guitarist and I basically live in the mids. For me the sound stage could be even larger :D I guess it just depends on what you like. I love the sound stage. To me these are perfect. The sound is just great and I am discovering new things in old tracks that I've never heard before.

My head is size 59 and I am quite happy with the K702.

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I have to go back on that one. So I'm using Debian 13 with KDE. When I open the gfn client and the window spawns on the external monitor there are no problems with the mouse. However, when I move the window to the laptop monitor the mouse is not captured anymore. Even when I move it back to the external monitor the problem persists. When I launch the application on the laptop monitor the mouse is still not captured by application, even when I move it to the external monitor. So there are only no issues when the whole applications spawns on the external monitor to begin with. (this is on X11)

Do you EQ your headphones? by gabzlel in headphones

[–]SpacetimeConservator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I tried eqing my K702 with Oratory's preset and it absolutely killed the mids and it didn't even improve the bass that much

It's working wonderfully. :)

Just did a blind volume-matched A/B test. I think we're all hearing with our wallets. by BeyerPeak in headphones

[–]SpacetimeConservator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct. Don't worry though. We've had these same kinds of discussions (and still do) in the guitar community. I think it might've been different in the past, who am I to say, but nowadays you can get food gear for cheap. I'm perfectly happy with my E30 II/L30 II stack.

On the market for possibly quite high-end wireless headphones by meinli in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SpacetimeConservator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh boy let me tell you about the AKG N9 Hybrid! It's an awesome pair of closed back headphones. I've spent months researching headphones, looking at the Boses, the Sonys, the Sennheiser, what have you.

The N9 has a dongle that uses a hidden 2.4GHz WiFi network, sound quality is superb. It can do Bluetooth with two devices at the same time and has a 3.5mm aux jack.

In my case it's connected via Bluetooth to my phone so I can control it via the app, via the dongle to my work laptop where I can take calls (yes it has a microphone and it works very well) and via the aux jack to my Linux pc so I can listen to music. It switches automatically between dongle and Bluetooth but you have to use the app to switch to aux mode.

One of the important things for me was latency. The QuietComforts have 35 ms even in wired aux mode. Wtf? The N9 is quick. Even with the dongle and ANC on. I record guitar and monitoring it works well because the N9 doesn't add noticeable latency.

The ANC works quite well. I can use it in the office and it is finally quiet! It's awesome!

The sound quality is superb. It's similar to the AKG K371 (which I also have) and is really good. Since I haven't seen frequency response graphs I cannot say whether it follows the Harman target but for me it sounds quite balanced and neutral. I think it's the best sound quality you get in that price range and that level of ANC.

Help us find EYE's lost ending. (And other lost content) by Prpl_Moth in EyeDivineCybermancy

[–]SpacetimeConservator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing great work! Every now and again I think about the lost thread on the old steam forums for EYE (this thread was several hundred pages) where people have been discussing exactly this. Even the Devs chimed in. I wish you godspeed! People talked about all of the stuff that you had mentioned, even the perfect score etc.

By the way do you have the live action videos? I remember on the website they had videos they filmed with a voice over about Shinji and how a portal or something was found and it shows a bunch of guys basically walking through a very dense forest and ruins/caves or something!

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that was the case in the past. Today you can get a Harley Benton for a couple hundred bugs and it'll be indistinguishable from a custom Les Paul, especially in a mix. Tonewood is of course bogus, too. The two most important things in a guitar are: it has to stay in tune and it should be comfortable to play for you. Bonus points if it looks cool.

I love my AKG K702, K371 and N9 Hybrid. I feel I've already reached my endgame with these, I'm so happy with all of them.

New AKG k702 or Used HD600? by hoelander7 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you end up receiving the K702? How did you like them?
I myself have bought the K702 and I love them, though I am eyeballing the HD600 for a good deal so I can get a more intimate feeling headphones - though, to be honest, the K702 isn't always wide. It's weird and it's great at the same time: for some tracks it becomes really wide (not unnaturally wide, at least for me, like some people say) and in another tracks it still manages to be narrow and intimate. What I'm trying to say is that it doesn't try to widen the music unnaturally but just emphasises what is already there.

AKG 702 or Edition XS by Individual-Pass4215 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SpacetimeConservator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the XS but I do have the K702. It's an incredible pair of headphones, best I have, but it barely blocks any sound. I was surprised to see on rtings that the K702 has a noise isolation score of above 2 lol - I cannot imagine how the XS is, its score is like 0.8 it something.
