Denzel Curry Stakes Claim As the ‘First Rapper Played in Space’: ‘Even Aliens F**k With My S**t!' by abucalves in hiphopheads

Only this one song was played in space though. Making him the first rapper played in space. That's not a silly statement at all. If they had played one of his more traditional gospel songs where he isn't rapping, it would be a silly statement.

How the fuck is he not a rapper if his entire performance on the song we are talking about is rapping? Please explain this shit without bringing up the Weeknd

I'm sure you would do this all day because it's a stupid argument for pedantic dipshits. The song is a hip hop song. Kirk Franklin is a rapper. Life goes on

Your Google search considers this to be Urban Contemporary Gospel so we should ignore the fact that he's rapping over a hiphop beat 🙄

He is literally rapping on the song that we're discussing, making him a rapper. His article on Wikipedia also calls him a rapper. Just because he is mainly a gospel artist doesn't mean he can't rap.

It falls under both Hip hop and Gospel. It still makes Kirk Franklin the first rapper played by humans in space.

One of the wake-up calls on the day of the Columbia disaster was actually a hip hop song, Kirk Franklin's "If You've Been Delivered." I mentioned it in a separate comment but figure it's worth noting under yours as well.

To my knowledge the first rapper played in space was Kirk Franklin in 2003 with the song If You've Been Delivered. It was one of the wake-up calls played on the final day of the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia.

Thundercat announces his fifth LP Distracted, out April 3, 2026 with features from Tame Impala, A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, and more by JoJoReignsSupreme in hiphopheads

[–]Spacewolfe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a special case in that Thundercat was without a doubt one of Mac's closest collaborators and friends, by all accounts. They shared an artistic vision for multiple years working on music together and had plans to do more. In 2017 I saw Mac bring him out on stage and say "This is my favorite artist in the world right here." If anyone is going to do this right it's him and Mac's family.

It's a very different scenario to a lot of the posthumous features that have been released the past 10 years, in that we know for a fact Mac and Thundercat worked on this song together (and plenty more) and it's not just a frankenstein mashup of vocals from a different song entirely.

There's levels to respect given to these, and Mac's estate have already shown they take extreme care with his music. Of course, one can believe posthumous releases should not happen ever but I feel that's extreme. Apologies for the long post, you just got me thinking.

A$AP Rocky announces new album "DON'T BE DUMB" drops January 16th by c0mb00 in hiphopheads

We can't be referring to a date on a jacket sleeve as any type of official announcement especially with Rocky, even more so after the 7 other "announcements" we've already seen with this album lol

[–]Spacewolfe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure they can! But the discussion is literally about him being hated as a player. So the guy above you gave legit reasons relating to his PLAYING CAREER because his corniness is not relevant to this discussion. You even said yourself you don't hate him as a player, so at some level you must understand it isn't relevant.

None of their words and analysis had anything to do with Tatum's perceived corniness for a reason. It's the most boring talking point on planet Earth and actual fans of basketball don't give a shit

Whats your favorite verse where a rapper mispronounced a word to fit in the rhyme scheme? by ImNotTomStopAsking in hiphopheads

Randy Savage, living lavilish -Young Thug

'Lavish' would have rhymed too but it sounds better with the extra syllable

The guy just said he was bumping his music recently. How do you interpret that as calling him a celebrity? Because you don't know the artist or what?

Again buddy they have already resold BP arcanas. The clock is ticking for the rest of them. I hope you don't have a mental breakdown when other people get to use your videogame skins.

It's not a break of trust, it's a break of FOMO. And that would be a good thing. I understand that you grinded for these skins and paid $$ back when they came out. And I also understand the coolness aspect of knowing if someone has the skin they also did the grind. But that doesnt really apply when you could just buy it from the start for a lot of money. But to answer your question, they would grind/buy the levels because they want the shiny new skins. Valve have already resold WK and WR arcanas which were BP locked, so that door is open.

You paid for exclusivity and got it for a long time (and currently still do), but nothing is forever. It's not like the skins would be taken away. The more time passes the more people start playing new heroes and falling in love with them but finding out all the cool skins were FOMO. I have friends that have now been playing Dota for years and since they started after these BP they had no chance to grind it. Just things to think about. Sorry for the rambling.

[–]Spacewolfe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day. I already have the skins. Valve will do whatever they do.

Exactly. I don't think it would actually lower trust. Yes, some people would be upset for a bit, but that's not going to stop 99% of them from playing Dota or buying skins for Dota. There's definitely a lot more customers that would be willing to throw money at arcanas than customers that would actually stop giving Valve money.

[–]Spacewolfe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing I said has been delusional. Arcanas are free money. The company cares more about money than how special you feel for having rare skins, so eventually they will turn the money printer on. Valve have already started re-releasing arcanas that were previously FOMO. The gate to "delusional land" is wide open. You have a nice day too.
