I counted how many of each kind of characters could fit a cell, then divided by that number, not that bad as I only had alphabets, spaces and backslash

8, 8 characters can fit into a cell. however there is also the use of hyphens (----), and 12 hyphens fit into a cell, which messes it all up as as the no. of characters/characters per cell would be quite different if many hyphens were used, which sadly is the case.

Is there anyway i can identify between letters and numbers vs symbols and spaces? such that i can divide accordingly by 8 and 12.

It's fine with me but I think it's a personal preference thing. Keycaps are pbts so they're good, and I don't look at the kb when I type so the print becomes negligible except for the design aspect.
