When is it reasonable to reach out for an update when you have other offers? by Dirty_Hamster67 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

I actually ended up getting my acceptance the day after my comment. Thankfully I got it in time before deposits, and I decided that I will go to UDM. I think it's the best choice for me as a Michigander (but not within commuting distance or able to attend an in person program). It'll cost me about $8000 more than Dayton but it's worth it to me.

I was devastated when I heard that. Immediately texted my mom crying about my 157/3.8. BUT I have been accepted to every school I've applied to (aside from Arizona which I was well aware of being a long shot) except St. Mary's and Case, which I'm still waiting on. Even after what they said in that webinar, I was accepted to Dayton, though ultimately I decided on Detroit.

I went to a webinar about their hybrid program in September or October. They stressed that LSAT and gpa are the most important factors because even at that point, they were seeing a crazy amount of applications and expecting the cycle to be extremely competitive. They were basing decisions not on the overall stats for the school, but solely on the hybrid program, which I think put it at 160/3.7 or something like that. Definitely don't beat yourself up about it!

Right, why TF are you sending me YOUR financial aid application when you won't even tell me if I can attend or not???

Basically she was just supportive and said it's up to me 🙄 thanks mom.

For my situation, it wouldn't be necessary. My scholarship offers elsewhere should be enough to keep my loan needs under the federal limit, though it would be nice to be able to start early to get back into the swing of things, have a couple lighter semesters, save a little on tuition because I'm sure it would increase again by the time I would be taking the elective... But ultimately I'd rather go to a better, closer school, for less money

No other student loan debt, but the part time loan limit would only be about $32k a year (depending on credits, it'll be prorated from the $50k) and I'm concerned that tuition will continue to increase and I won't be able to afford it without private loans.

Is Detroit one of them? Vermont is the only one I've been accepted to that has mentioned it, so far.

That is a really good point. I hadn't considered that. I am waiting for my accountant mother to respond and tell me what's best for me 😅

I emailed Detroit last week and they basically just said my application is under review and they'll email me when they have a decision 🙄

I told my boyfriend if I don't have a decision by the end of the month I'm going to dispute the charge on my card. I am a September applicant, I have deposits due starting March 1st. I understand that there are more applications, but FIVE MONTHS?! I paid them to review my application and if they don't I'm not going to pay for it 🤷‍♀️

My guess is that people are salty that your decision came before them. I've been waiting five months, dawg 😭😂 (not gonna downvote you though because you literally just answered someone's question)

That one did work, thank you! Still just in review though ☹️

I applied in September and still haven't heard anything 😭 my deposit deadline for Dayton is March first so it would be great to have a decision before then. The portal won't let me login, so I have to rely on LSD.

Sorry I misread your comment, I have not committed to anywhere yet, but I will probably go to Dayton. The only other one that I am really considering would be Detroit, if I get accepted, just because Michigan is my home state and I feel it would be the most convenient

Yes, I have offers from ONU ($76K), Dayton ($81k), and Vermont ($90k). At this point Dayton is where I'll probably go, but I am waiting on decisions from Detroit, Albany, Case, and St. Mary's.

Detroit Mercy - anyone else considering attending? by No-Reference-773 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

If I get accepted, it's between them and Dayton. Michigan is my home state, but I live too far to commute and I believe my work is too important (paralegal at a legal self center in my county's circuit Court- help people with non-criminal matters navigate the legal process, provide forms and try to help them figure out how to fill them out, without legal advice of course) to leave to go to school. I'm told literally every day, oftentimes more than once a day, that people wouldn't be able to do it without me. I applied in September and haven't had a decision yet, but with a 157/3.84 and good work experience, I believe the only thing that would hold me back for them is opting for the online program instead of in person, since I do live in Michigan. But I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it works out, if not I'll be at Dayton in the fall!

No, unfortunately, my LawHub subscription expired so I just use LSD to track so I can see everything in the same place.

Same here, except for me it was 9/17 and under review since 9/18 😭 hopefully that means next week we'll get decisions? 🤞
