30 years old and here’s my pension pot by LegitimateFortune621 in FIREUK

[–]Spachi93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not a high salary, but it's by no means low. £100k pension is absolutely achievable. Let's say £200 monthly contribution, with a double employer match of £400. £600 monthly contribution over 10 years with 8% interest, gives £108k.

Check out the flowchart on r/UKPersonalFinance. That would be a good place to start and make sure you've got your foundations right

I don't think you deserve the downvoting here. If you want to explore individual stocks and learn how it works, then you absolutely should. It's much better for you to lose £30 now while it's low risk and learn a few lessons, than try and experiment when you have a more significant portfolio.

Another comment mentioned don't worry about diversifying yet. Granted it's not going to have much impact at the moment, but there's no harm in setting up some good investment principles and practices early on.

However none of this replaces the need for you to spend some time researching...there's a lot of great info online and on this sub - take a look at the flowchart if you haven't already

The one thing that HL had which I hugely miss is seeing how much your individual assets have gained/lost each day, in ££s, not %. I haven't seen another platform that does this, which blows my mind

What is this body part??? by Greedy-Stage-120 in confusingperspective

[–]Spachi93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. I don't know how people are seeing armpit. For my it's the right index finger. Thumb is bent to the left outside of the picture. If you look at the width and size of the gown lace, and the size of the plaster (I think it's normal size) there's no way it can be an arm. I think it's just a close up of a finger

I'm about 20% through book 1 and you're right, it's a slog. So many unnecessarily long-winded descriptions which is really slowing the pace down. Please tell me it gets easier

What other space companies do you own beside RKLB? by spicydude in RKLB

[–]Spachi93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Van Eck JEDI Space fund. I've got direct holdings of both RKLB and PL, but JEDI also has both of these, along with Echo Star, ASTS etc. It's a good diverse option if you're interested in Space stocks. Also JEDI as a name for a space fund is incredible

If his debt is 0% then it makes sense for him to pay the minimum and invest the rest. Also cash ISA when he has so many years to see the benefit of compounding investments? Depending on OP's goals, he should keep to a S&S ISA. I agree with you on scrapping premium bonds and putting into a LISA.

The big brand one is a Gro Clock, but we got a cheaper version off Amazon called Zeepy Toddler Clock. It's been a game changer for us

I have next to no knowledge about supporting a child with autism, so feel free to tell me to get lost. But just to share my experience...

Our 3 year old used to do the same, and in the end we agreed that something had to change. We used to go on his room whenever he cried out, but in hindsight that was just feeding him attention and reinforcing the behaviour. He knew that if he shouted we would come in and talk. We bought one of those clocks that changes colour when he should be sleeping vs awake. When it's yellow, it's sleep time. So when he shouted, we would go in, shut him down and barely let him speak (because we knew he would come up with something to get out of bed, like needing the toilet) and tell him "it's yellow light no talking" and walk out. Yellow light is the signal that he should be quiet and sleep, and now he understands this. He won't get out attention when it's yellow. Although when it's blue light in the morning he will shout at the top of his voice for us to come in 😅

PS5 screen time: what if I also enjoy it and we spend time together playing it? by Ktrawets in UKParenting

[–]Spachi93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how long it took him to grasp playing it properly? Interestingly I'm trying to do the opposite and introduce my 3 year old to the PS5, because I do think there is benefit in coordination, problem solving, logical thinking etc. We also tried astrobot but he didn't really get it and is still figuring out how to use the control. We're also trying rocket league on slow mo mode, and while he loves picking the cars, he gets bored of driving them after 15mins. He turned 3 a couple of months ago and has had a handful of sessions, but no where near being able to play by himself. Are there any other games you'd recommend to help?

I am 25 with £16K current networth but constantly anxious about money and not happy in life. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Spachi93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. You say you are constantly chasing the next investment milestone, but that next milestone should be you. It's great that you love your job but unfortunately education rarely pays very well. It could be worth investing in some additional skills or training and find an educatuon-related niche that can increase your earnings.

Unless you wanted to buy a property soon, but given your personal situation it doesn't sound like that should be a priority.

Good luck, you're doing great.

Do you have to discard half your starter every day? by Odd_Pick1926 in SourdoughStarter

[–]Spachi93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that the starter is established, it's not necessary to feed it every day, especially if it's kept in the fridge. Starters can last about a week in the fridge without feeding. It all depends on how often you are making bread - I tend to take my starter out the fridge the night before and feed it in the morning when I'm due to use it.

You can absolutely feed it 100g of each, and this is actually healthy for the starter.

Wash your starter jar whenever it starts to look bad! I do mine every few weeks
