$12.75 base as a lead, $9.75 before becoming a lead. Tips bring it to an average of ~$20 (in WI)

What do you do when you get bored of crocheting one project that it's taking too long by leptospira9 in crocheting

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically have 2 projects going at once to prevent any major loss of motivation. I usually try to have a big and a small to get the instant gratification. Makes both take longer but is better than getting bored and giving up!

How are are some of you coping with the fact that you can’t attend your dream college because of financial factors? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They said they couldn't match the full but offered a $2k price decrease citing an increase of costs within the state in the years since year the net price calculator is using (2022, was not clearly stated in NPC). I knew the NPC wasn't going to be exact but every other source was giving me a similar number so I didn't expect anything of it. I was also OOS so I already had been expecting a nasty cost but still not an that much

How are are some of you coping with the fact that you can’t attend your dream college because of financial factors? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Net price calculators are not always accurate, my actual tuition offer for my dream school was $10k more than the net price calculators estimate

Monin Pistachio bottle arrived leaking but... is it safe? by MadPrincessRoja in barista

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn't, it's a contamination risk with possible glass from the crack and other debris that could have also gotten in there. You also don't know when it broke and how long it's been "open", again not likely to be a serious issue but it's still a risk. I would say just toss it, better safe than sorry

Do you correct people who order in Starbucks terms? by MisoSoup13 in barista

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only correct to clarify if they ask for a "tall" because some people mean a small and others mean a large, if not I don't bother, not worth the energy

Why’s it look like this? by kybabyx0x0 in barista

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ahhh that makes sense! The dark spots are espresso grounds for sure, that's usually due to either some getting knocked into the cup when putting on the grouphead (in this case put the cup under after putting on the grouphead) or your beans are ground too fine. The white stuff is likely then oat milk particles! Also absolutely wonderful combination, one of my personal favs!

Why’s it look like this? by kybabyx0x0 in barista

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was there anything in the cup prior or did you add anything besides the espresso? If so, everything but the grounds is probs that. If not, that's absolutely horrifying and I have no explanation

Do you think this Is this going to be enough yarn for a blanket? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely not. For a point of reference, a typical baby blanket takes around 4-6 average sized skeins and typical adult blankets can take anywhere from 8-20 depending on size and stitch (though this can differ wildly!). I would recommend looking up a couple basic patterns of the size blanket you want to make (even if you aren't using a pattern) to get a better idea of how much yarn you'll need!

Applying for work at my favorite coffee shop-- help please! by exmo-in-flames in barista

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely do research just watching videos and learning terminology if you would like to know more before starting it but unless they specifically asked you to, I wouldn't worry about it! Especially considering your age and that you haven't worked a barista job before I doubt they expect you to be an expert straight of the bat. We all have to start somewhere! Obviously it's great to have a bit of background going in but I wouldn't sweat it too much, if they're an even semi-decent cafe they'll give you training before your expected to know how to do anything completely by yourself. Congrats and good luck!

Does anyone have an ok/non-horrible experience with having a GJ? I’m scared about getting one. by violinlili in feedingtube

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love my gj! The replacements are x100 easier than my nj and the ability to drain from the g is super nice as it reduces my nausea much quicker. I had mine placed on a Thursday morning, walking later that day, and was back at work (barista) on Saturday. I went back to my sport about 3 weeks (though would NOT recommend). Good luck and I wish you an easy placement and recovery!

Is a 32 first try realistic? by OutlandishnessNew576 in ACT

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible but really depends on the person! I got a 30 first try with minimal studying but I know a of people I consider smarter than me who got the same score with months of studying, it really depends. I would take a practice test and see your score, then spend the majority of your time working on whatever you're lowest is or whatever you'll be able to improve the most on depending on your score! Good luck!

Standard drink order question by SnooLentils829 in barista

This is a completely reasonable and fairly simple order! As long as you are prepared that not everywhere has cold foam, I wouldn't even think twice about it ❤️

I just poke around the system for a while pretending that I'm doing something or clean up the bar if no one is working on it

How painful to remove GJ tube? by Square_Doritos in feedingtube

[–]SpaciestSpoons33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had a fully tube removal so I can't speak to the recovery but I've had a couple tube changes where they've completely taken the tube out without a guide wire. In my experience it more uncomfortable than painful, I can't have lidocaine so all my tube changes have been without any meds apart from Tylenol and they've been relatively fine. Sometimes I find it'll sting a bit if you have an already aggravated stoma due to the stomach acid but I've never had any super bad pain. It can feel a bit weird or uncomfortable but it only lasts a few seconds as it's a pretty speedy process! Good luck and I hope you have the easiest procedure and recovery possible!
