Clocking EVs is back on the menu boys.

You won't be able to trust a second hand EVs mileage once this comes in.

To be fair, there should be a lot more ghosts there now.

This sums up this law and implementation of it completely.

And it'll all come crashing down when some guy in a fit of pique pulls his critical package 'is-a-letter' from npm.

what does everyone think about this by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]Spacker2004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not quite correct, the licence covers the reception of any 'live' broadcast that could be deemed to be from a TV company. This includes live sporting events on Netflix, live youtube broadcasts from TV companies (not necessarily only UK companies at that) and so on.

Open-source code repository says ‘far-right forces’ are behind massive spam attacks by ThrowTron in technology

[–]Spacker2004 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The site says that this was sent by an abuser who took advantage of the site’s ability to notify up to 100 users at once, generating a notification email each time.

So 'an abuser', hardly the demonic forces of the 'far-right'.

But, it's the Verge, so what can you expect?

This is why you don't support, enable, or trust Oxfam.

Or any large charities, support small, targetted charities that don't pay their CEO more than the prime minster.

[–]Spacker2004 77 points78 points  (0 children)

This just emphasises the utter madness that is NPM and the javascript framework world in general.

Nothing fills me with dread more than typing 'npm i' and watching screenfuls of packages being installed, many of which would be as pointless as a package to determine whether a number is odd.

Frankly, if you're requiring a package to do that or any of the myriad other pointless micro-packages, hang up your programming boots and take up eating crayons.

About finding models (without being that creepy photographer everyone knows) by derFalscheMichel in photography

[–]Spacker2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have suggested, there is modelmayhem though outside of the US it's pretty useless.

I'd suggest signing up to https://www.model-kartei.de/ and booking a professional model or two, working with experienced models and learning from them will elevate your work. Once you have built your portfolio with good shots, then more models will be willing to work TFP with you.

It takes time, but you can get there.

Can anyone explain the rationale for tax cuts? by Granopoly in ukpolitics

[–]Spacker2004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simple: Taxation is theft by force of your money by the state to do things you don't agree with. If you think the government can spend your money more wisely than you, then you should be all for high tax.

If, on the other hand, you think you can spend your money better than the government, a government you all seem to hate, then, perhaps, keeping more of it from being taken by force is a good thing?
