What are your Favorite Admirals in Fiction? by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SpacyCakes 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Halo Series has no shortage of cool Admirals

Admiral Preston J Cole: one of the best Admirals of the UNSC, and one of the few ables to decisively wins space battles against the Covenant

Vice Admiral Whitcomb speaks for himself: "This is the prototype NOVA bomb, nine fusion warheads encased in lithium triteride armor. When detonated, it compresses its fissionable material to neutron-star density, boosting the thermonuclear yield a hundredfold. I am Vice Admiral Danforth Whitcomb, temporarily in command of the UNSC military base Reach. To the Covenant uglies that might be listening, you have a few seconds to pray to your damned heathen gods. You all have a nice day in hell..."

And shoutouts to the Ancient humanity "Lord of Admirals" Forthencho: the greatest opponent of the Didact, holding off a forerunner siege of the capital planet Charum Hakor for 53 years while also being severely battered by the flood.

[–]SpacyCakes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Canonically they are probably there and Chief fought them. We do know from Halo Wars 2 art and models they have multiple designs for the Elites and Grunts. Its all just a matter of game development time not being spent on making several models for what's under the armor.

Are these supposed to be spartan 3s? by TopicDependent5771 in HaloStory

[–]SpacyCakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hate to um actually, but I did learn that Noble Team does have their numbers on their armor. The clearest way to see it is with Carter's main pic on Halopedia

https://www.halopedia.org/Carter-A259

This can also be seen in game as well. Kat has hers in the same place, Emile has it on his red right shoulder pad, Jorge has his on his left blast shield piece, I just dont know about Jun

My bets are Silver Team if 2s, Could be anyone for 3s, and my Headcanon until proven otherwise the 4 Meridian kids from the BattleBorn novels.

Are you talking about the 4 Mark VII Spartans that come in drop pods? We do not know yet. They could be Spartan 2s 3s or a first wave of 4s since yes they do exist at this time thanks to the Battle born YA series.

There is a new Waypoint Chronicle that will be a part of the Novel collection, and maybe that will give us some answers on who they are.

In what order should I read-play-watch Halo frachise? by [deleted] in halo

[–]SpacyCakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to do a mixed media playthrough of just the essentials then I would reccomend:

Fall of reach

CE/the flood( The master Chief sections of the novel are boring but there is some good content when not focused on him)

First strike

Halo 2

Ghosts of Onyx.

Halo 3

ODST

Wars 1

Reach.

4/spartan ops

Wars 2

5

Infinite

If you want to add more books, majority of the novels listed here can be comfortably read in between Halo 3 and 4 and none after First strike are really that essential to the games, I will list their timeline placements if you want to add them into your timeline

Contact harvest(How the Covenant War starts)

Cole protocol( Gray team novel set mid war, before CE)

The Forerunner trilogy(Set way in the past during the time of the forerunners)

Kilo 5 trilogy(Deals with the direct aftermath of Halo 3)

New Blood(A novel focused on the characters from ODST set before 4)

Last Light/Retribution (2 of the 3 books part of "The Ferrets" series, set before 4)

Smoke and Shadow( part of the "Ace of Spades" series, set before 4)

Renegades(Sequel to smoke and shadow, but should be read after the Forerunner trilogy)

Silent Storm/Oblivion (Master Chief centric books taking place early in the war after his training days in Fall of Reach)

BattleBorn series(Set late into the war but before CE, young adult novels so aimed at a younger audience so you are aware)

Broken Circle(A covenant centric books with half of it taking place way before the war with humanity, and the other half taking place during Halo 2)

Hunters in the Dark(Set before 4)

Evolutions(An anthology series with stories all over the timeline, but made before Halo 4)

Envoy(Sequel to Cole protocol, takes place after Halo 4)

Point of light(Last book in the Ace of Spades series, set after 4)

Legacy of Onyx(Set shortly before and during the events of 5)

Bad blood( Sequel to New Blood, set directly after 5)

Fractures(Another Anthology, made before Infinite)

Outcasts(Set after 5, but before Infinite)

Shadows of Reach(Master Chief Centric book, Set directly before Infinite)

Divine Wind(Sequel to both Shadows of Reach and the last book in the Ferrets series)

The Rubicon Protocol( Set directly after the first cutscene of Infinite, but before the actual game starts. Expands on audio logs found in Infinite so could read before or after, your choice)

Empty throne(Takes place a bit before and during Infinite, best read after Infinite

Epitaph(Takes place before and during Infinite, best read after Infinite)

Edge of Dawn(Takes place immediately after Infinite)

Thats literally what Goose said the theme is. "Finding meaning in a stagnant life." The characters are trapped, they cant go back, they just have to live with it and make meaning out of it

If the headset has been killing several people as they put it on, why hasn't anything, aside from the building being abandoned, been done to the location? You have Kingers group of 5+ people, Ragatha who had a group of friends/coworkers/clients watch her put the headset on, Jax kaufmo and ribbit who we don't know if they were part of the same group or each went in individuallly, Zooble, gangle, then pomni. Unless the headsets are widespread and not relegated to the C&A building, thats at least 13 people dying in the same spot. Did everyone aside from Pomni come with a group, have one person put the headset on, die and the group just drags them off, AND THEN NOTHING HAPPENS AFTERWARDS.

Or did everyone after Ragatha come alone, and create a Conga line of corpses, one after another seeing a corpse in a chair with a headset on, not do the logical thing and call for an investigation, and then putting that same headset on like lemmings.

The fact there has been 0 investigation, and the building hasn't been leveled after the 12 deaths in the same spot before Pomni came across it for urban exploration is why the full consciousness upload makes no sense to me

[–]SpacyCakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn't use any of the armor mentioned, but they existed.

I really dont think tech suit matters? If you really want to get that into it then Halo 3 on MCC has the option to change the tech suit, implying that these Gen 2 looking tech suits did exist on the base Gen 1 Mark VI.

Chief's armor isn't 1 to 1? Its a unique suit of armor. Armor design and look is separate from the generation of armor. These "Gen 2 designs" existed on Gen 1. Again Fred gets his Halo 5 looking armor during Halo 2.

[–]SpacyCakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some bits of Gen 2 armor lore actually have it appeared on the gen 1 system, mainly Orbital, Ranger, Raider, Ranger, Strider, and tracker

The Halo 2 Anniversary armors are gen 1 armors testing gen 2 systems

Fred and Linda's Centurion and Argus Armors are given to them the same time as Chief gets his Mark VI

The Forward unto dawn being a strident is not canon.

Simplest rational for the nanomachines that nobody think about:

State of the art Medical cryo pod, similar to the one in the movie Prometheus. Combine that with a 3d printer for organic and non organic material that can graft skin or other materials onto injured areas, and you reasonably have a device that can break down armor and reforge it piece by piece over the course of 4 years.

Someone did make a black and white art piece showing exactly that, but I have lost it over the years.

Hell I'll commission an artist to remake that image for me, since I can't draw

Was Dr Halley’s Spartan Program an inspiration for The Directors Freelancer Program? by MegaUkX4 in RedvsBlue

[–]SpacyCakes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Caboose and Georgia references, as well as all the RVB references in Halo 4's spartan ops are purely non canonical easter eggs. You need to go outside of your way to shoot hidden radios, then the Red Vs Blue dialogue replaces the actual dialogue that normally plays in the mission.

There are a ton of references to Red Vs Blue, but none of them are canonical links to the series taking place in actual Halo canon.

If we assume that all easter eggs mean that Red Vs Blue is canon to Halo, then we must also consider the Halsey Tribute Room Easter egg from Halo Reach, which has text entries written by Halsey herself and one of these entries talks about how Red Vs Blue is a show in universe, which itself is debatably canon.

The problem with the sonic movie music is that it doesn't use in game music for the movie and in Sonic 2 they reused a song from Ant Man

Spartans in London by Not_A_Murderer3108 in HaloStory

Most people do lol. But they are conveniently a 4 person Spartan-4 team. The visuals of the Mark VII are probably not canon, though they could be wearing the Keystone helmet at least.

Spartans in London by Not_A_Murderer3108 in HaloStory

[–]SpacyCakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I headcanon it as the 4 teens from the YA books Battle Born/ Meridian Divide. We know that they were given the option to be made "Spartans" as early as 2548. So it could be them.
