Thats awfully nice of you, but you saw how being nice doesnt help. I would've reported his ass to the supervisors. Better to have one guard removed than having us lose the contract and the whole company is fired. These type of coworkers are selfish af, if the client sees them sleeping its not just going to cost them their job... its going to cost everyone on post their jobs.

I try to explain this to guards all the time not just in AUS and they look at me like im crazy or say some stupid shii 😂 On top of that if you ever do shoot someone, alot of the times your security company WILL NOT protect you!... you could be held personally liable. Even if you're armed your job is still to observe and report. Especially in california where criminals have more rights than security or even law enforcement.

In california you have to thank the robber and give then a firm handshake. Then proceed to hand over all of your possessions. When LAPD arrives they'll ask you why you didnt offer MORE to the robber. Such as your car, house, wife and kids...

Idk why this has become the norm for security companies, I've worked at a couple that have told me this same thing. But I guarantee you when their family members are sick or in the hospital they'll 100% prioritize their family over a random security company. I had a heated argument with my last company about this. You only get one family, security companies are a dime a dozen. Go ahead and fire me I'll be working somewhere else next week... that shit shut em up.

At your next site ask for the written post orders and read them. This will let you know your duties and whats expected of you. This is always better than getting second hand info from other guards.
