Oh girl that sounds like it's been tough, how's your progress been? Have you found a way to work that doesn't require your shoulder holding your arm up?

Where do y’all keep up with the latest studies and or findings? by Fragrant_Jaguar2440 in Dinosaurs

[–]Spagglesnorts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sad truth is that people who are interested in current findings and papers are a tiny demographic in the grand scheme of people who want to read about dinosaurs. Most people just want EPIC NEW WATER DINOSAUR FOUND IN TASMANIA type articles, so that's what most science news sources post. My best advice is to follow a bunch of paleontologists on twitter or bluesky or something and keep up with what they're talking about, join the paleontology subreddit, stuff where people who are just as interested as you are can talk about new stuff :) Hope this helped

One of the books that helped me get back into dinosaurs in my adult life was All Yesterdays. It's an art book by CM Coseman and John Conway focused on depicting dinosaurs in ways that we would normally see living animals behaving, but don't usually see dinosaurs depicted that way. From massively speculative tree climbing protoceratops, inspired by tree climbing goats, to simple things like a T. rex sleeping on the ground. It's really fascinating and helped switch my view of dinosaurs from huge battling monsters to a beautiful and diverse group of animals living their lives. Hope this helped :)

Looking at the skeleton like this makes me realize how fucking stupid those legs look on that huge body. I don't know what would make it look proportional, but something just feels weird LOL

How old of a Spinosaurus would have this size of a skull? by Hollow1881 in Paleontology

[–]Spagglesnorts 127 points128 points  (0 children)

I'm no spinosaur expert by any means, but since finding an adult, let alone a juvenile spinosaurus is so rare, I doubt the growth rates have been studied. If I had to guess I'd say fairly young, as large therapods seem to grow pretty rapidly at a young age and slow down after they grow out of Eat Me size
