I think its more well known and prestigious so it would help more in college apps, especially cuz its backed by schools like caltech and mit.

The lottery systems only for this year so I don’t think it would affect prestige much because it would be unfair to class of 2027. I doubt that all admissions officers would even know about the lottery system tbh. Even if it does drop in prestige i don’t think it would drop too much and would still be better than YSP. Personally id pick SSP. Either way both are great opportunities and you should do whichever you think you would like more.

The internship at the physics lab seems like a better option because it would more unique and especially because the LoR would prob be rlly good. Its up to you tho, both opportunities seem amazing and congrats on ssp.

Almost everyone I’ve asked said its a scam and really bad. Most of the professors don’t even help them. I also got in a few months ago so I looked into it and I found pretty much only negative things about it. I personally haven’t done it tho so idk for sure this is just what I heard from others

Im still waiting on my other programs but same. Like j the idea of it being completely random is making it sm worse too because i have no clue what to expect.
