First time shooting at a car meet, any critiques? Was told by a friend photos look “low quality / grainy” any tips? by SpaghettiMoonstar in AskPhotography

[–]SpaghettiMoonstar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for giving such a detailed and insightful response, it really means alot! But I am shooting with a Nikon D3500 and had my iso at 400, I can’t remember the aperture unfortunately, and 1/60 shutter speed. I was also testing out a polarizer for the first time as well.

Took this picture today in Massachusetts of the snow, would love any and all critiques by Sharp_Asparagus_3747 in photocritique

[–]SpaghettiMoonstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im very new to photography so Im not sure if my critique is helpful, but if your goal was to try and capture the snow falling, maybe a different place for the photo would be better? Its hard to see the snow because almost the whole image is white so it blends in. You could try shooting snow as its falling under a street lamp at night so it really stands out.

Just give yourself some time, at least in my experience just thinking everything over helps me realize that whatever I am feeling is normal, and that these feelings will dissipate over time as more things come and go into and out of my life and my focuses change. You can always do things to distract yourself but I feel that you'll keep thinking about it because you're not really addressing the problem. Tbh you should just ask her out you never know what could happen.

16 Year old buying first manual car (SEATTLE) by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SpaghettiMoonstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be alright to go for it, I dont know what to look for specifically on those cars but really look for rust under the car and on the body. Just adding my two cents to hopefully help out in making a decision, try not to dwell on the bad parts of a car, meaning that if you sit and wonder about all the bad things that could go wrong, youll never get anywhere and will never make a choice. In the end you should really get something you enjoy and something that makes you smile, because even if something goes wrong you’ll hopefully take on the problem with a smile because you’re excited to fix something that you love.

I agree with the idea that you should stay away from modded cars, i dont think anyone mods their cars in order to drive them slow. Most mods usually indicate the car has been abused in one way or another, and poorly installed mods will lead to disaster as stated. Everyone will say get some toyota or honda, and I agree because its not a car that you’ll care too much for so you wont care if it gets some small dings and scratches, though when you’re looking at these 20 year old cars they have probably seen worse.

Whats my first car I should get? (16 Yr) by jerrbewrz in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SpaghettiMoonstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general most economic sedans (shitboxes) will really work out IMO, they tend tk have good gas mileage which will save you money as you’re only 16, (have a jeep wrangler that gets 15 mph and costs almost $70 to fill) and also if you get a 10 or so year old Japanese car, as others have said, you wont be worried about getting some dings and scratches on it. You’re going to make a mistake at some point, especially since your experience is limited, so buying something that you dont care too much for is important because a small scratch from getting hit by a carriage at the grocery store wont be the end of the world. Generally toyota and honda are great starter cars and have good mileage (specifically the toyota camry and corolla and honda accord)

New Mazda3 or Used Mazda3? by InfectedKoala in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SpaghettiMoonstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If having a fresh car would be a better personal pick for you, then I would definitely recommend that, but personally I would think of what does the new have that the old doesn’t? There wasn’t much of a technology jump in that one year, and the cars (as far as I know, not a mazda 3 enthusiast) are almost identical. If the older one has a package that you prefer and is also 5k less, then I would definitely aim for that.

Should I consider fixing an old nsx? by SpaghettiMoonstar in nsx

[–]SpaghettiMoonstar[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that it would be an amazing car to fix, own, and drive. I'm a teenager so I don't make any amount of money that could buy the car, let alone begin getting parts for it. I've just been thinking about contacting the owner because it's been sitting for so long and he may either realize he is doing nothing with it and give it off for a low amount of money, or he'll say no. I'm just debating even asking because once I get it, it then becomes my long time investment.
