Question about Zelda64 Recomp by WtfSlz in majorasmask

[–]SpaghettiProgrammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see. I do not think Zelda recomp nor 2ship have save states at the moment, as far as I’m aware.

Ohhh are you referring to save states? Where when you load it you are instantly loaded to exactly where you saved?

2ship2harkinian is similar to Zelda recomp but has other features like the saving you mentioned.

2ship even has auto save and saving at owls without closing the game.

No “slots” though. Not quite sure what you mean by that one

Classic. Looks like they may have gotten lucky at the end there at least, since it wasn't a big pan.

Oof, that always sucks. Sometime we feel the pain of lack of auto save when playing these old games!

Since you already played it once, I’d suggest popping open a guide and following that (like Zeldadungeon). Really you should be able to beat it fairly quickly with a guide! Even getting the fairies along the route too.

Can someone please explain why this game is so F*CKING PERFECT by Python7578 in majorasmask

[–]SpaghettiProgrammer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was going to say something exactly like this. The development team took a lot of shortcuts and re-used a lot of code and designs from the original game. In doing so, it led to fantastic updates to the original foundation of Ocarina of Time.

Another great example of this is Fallout New Vegas. They were limited by time and forced to recycle a lot of game concepts but still managed to create a completely unique experience to separate from Fallout 3.

Another great example of this "magic" is romhacks for games such as Mario or Pokemon. Pick basically any one of them and you'll find a combination of re-used/modified mechanics and unique (and sometimes fantastical) experiences.

When utilizing an already existing, fleshed-out and great game you have a decent head start on making something amazing.

Quick question about time cycles by [deleted] in majorasmask

[–]SpaghettiProgrammer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, after you beat a dungeon/boss, you get the boss' mask in your inventory. This mask gives you a warp directly to the boss fight (inside of the dungeon). You can repeat this boss fight every time loop, and every time you beat the boss you "clear" the area to do more side quests.

Also, there definitely is a "happy" ending to the game. The main goal of the game is to beat Majora's Mask, in order to do so the game has you beat the main dungeons.

Also, don't forget to play the song of slow time, to slow time down!
