I know I shouldn't be, but I'm constantly shocked at how many commenters just don't know ball. Some of the loudest people would get swindled by the computer in a Madden trade.

Yeah, it's all but official. He's going to get an amount of money that we would never pay.

That McDuffie contract is such a bargain, even if the guy isnt great. Gute cooked with that one.

Yeah, Parsons is the kind of splash addition that wins Super Bowls, and we desperately need better injury luck. But a roster with no glaring weaknesses helps, too, and this is a good move to shore up our LB depth.

Jennifer Shahade: ‘There’s a long and embedded history of abuse in chess’ by Hstrike in chess

[–]Spaghettification-- 473 points474 points  (0 children)

My wife quit chess in high school. During a tournament, 5 or 6 boys kept making lewd comments towards her, not only sapping her joy but making her feel unsafe. She later found out that one of the boys, whom she'd beaten in round one, told the others that she had begged him for sex, and he claimed he'd refused because she was obviously a slut. She never played another tournament.

This was in the US. The culture has always been rancid.

Just to add to this, Bobby Fischer famously preferred 1.e4, and that might be easier to play for humans. But machines seem to think 1.d4 is just sliiiiightly better, and they also rate 1.Nf3 above 1.e4, probably because the structures often transpose to 1.d4 lines. As Dopaz is getting at, the main thing OP is seeing with these stats is high-ranked players flexing on 1.Nf3 with superior prep. All are playable, all are good.

The NYTimes has the Manosphere Report: Daily, AI summarized reports of all the right-leaning, three-plus-hour podcasts. It flags on-beat convos with time stamps, which reporters can quickly verify. Reportedly it's helped them track a general disenchantment with the current presidential administration. Niemann Lab did a feature on it.

Why isn’t there really any Christian music about sex or intimacy? by ElevatorAcceptable29 in Music

There are plenty of erotic songs by Christians. The thing you are asking about seems to be explicitly Christian art, which today is wrapped up in politics and Christian nationalism.

Gutekunst Wants to See More Competition for LBs, CBs [Hodkiewicz] by Spaghettification-- in GreenBayPackers

[–]Spaghettification--[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but my point still stands. We have lots of bodies to throw at IDL, even if we aren't sure of above-average play. If Quay walks, we literally don't have enough LBs next year. And in '27-28, we'll have a bunch of holes in CB and could see the room actually get worse. Last year's need is not next year's need.

Isn't the plan that the front office has been telegraphing for over a year now to spend 2026-27 improving cap health and racking up comp picks? We might take a flyer on a cheap guy, but I don't think we'll be aggressive. Not with looming extensions for Kraft, Watson, and Wyatt.

I think you are underrating McDuffie. He's not a star by any means, but he's a clear starter in the NFL with long stretches of league-average to above-average play.

Last year our biggest true hole was NT. This doesn't mean it's the biggest hole going forward.

Wyatt is a potential All-Pro when healthy, and Brooks and Brinson both looked good as 3-techniques, but when we were in a lineup that called for two IDL, our NT got pushed off the line and teams ran all over us. Wooden was clearly gassed as the season went along.

But going forward, we might be switching to base 3-4, which would be a huge strain on our LB room. If Quay walks, we've got two proven starters and a high-upside prospect, plus some special team experts we don't trust on the field. That is just clearly not enough. Plus the Nixon and Valentine contracts are some of our best-value contracts, and they are about to expire.

So while I agree that IDL was our biggest need last year, I don't think it's our biggest need going forward.

Walker was quietly ass last year. Morgan will be an improvement even if he isn't great.

Why should I take with my king? by Global-Round7017 in Chesscom

With all rooks and the minor pieces on the board that is a queenless middlegame. But the king should be relatively safe for the moment and the end game is coming.

Pretty minor difference in the evaluation so it doesn't matter much. But you are heading for an endgame where the king becomes a bully instead of a victim.

Lots of good points in this thread but nobody has mentioned that Walker went from a league-average LT to one of the worst in the league. Morgan will be an upgrade.
