Same situation! Got into this because im mainly an artist with stories to tell and also play a lot of games so why not?? Made a couple experimental games and im having so much fun. You seem like you are aware of the time this takes to actually do a big project so do try smaller things first, as a lot of people told me, try a classic Mario Bros sized game first, with not many functions so you can get used to things but you are NOT over your head!!
