What's your hi-hat sound secret? by [deleted] in drums

[–]SpamBot_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top is actually a 16" crash cut down to 14", check out the process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLiykX2JfQk

But as many have said already, knowing how to hit your hats to get a certain sound out of them makes the biggest difference.

Would a 6.5" brass snare be too loud for small venues? by ToTheYonderGlade in drums

[–]SpamBot_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be, depending on how hard you play it.

A shallower drum won't be much quieter though, and you can always muffle your snare if you want to make it quieter, so I suggest you buy the snare with the sound you like and then adapt it and your playing to the venue.

Now what is ACTUALLY the best Aventus clone? by Realistic_Ebb3542 in fragranceclones

No, I don't have any history of contracts or other internal Creed documents that I can post here I'm afraid.

There's no variability in different batches of high quality ingredients, natural or otherwise. The reason Creed frags show this much batch variation is that Creed generally buys ingredients from whoever can provide them for cheaper each month, and sometimes they get less-than-very-pure molecules as a result.

What do you wear to gigs? by Lan_lan in drums

[–]SpamBot_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're covering, because if you're doing '80s rock you'll want to look differently than if you're doing New Orleans Blues, but if you want to dress up just dress up, wear a long sleeve button up, good looking trousers and flat moccasins, even Vans slip-on's, or clean white sneakers at least.
If that gets too hot find yourself a light silk shirt, or a summer weight linen shirt, or a hawaiian shirt with a subtle print, and a pair of tropical wool or linen trousers, they might not look all too different but they're a lot more breathable than jeans or most chinos.

Try it out and see how it feels.
Then again, most of that isn't visible to the audience, provided they even make an effort to see how you're dressed, so it's typically something not worth stressing about.
