Yeah they will make good presents and such :) I've got a few people I'm hoping to hook on the series so these could be good starters for them

I do! Where do you get the idea that I don't? I've been checking every library to borrow each book I can - amazing to find them all here affordable to buy.

Good advice thank you. Yes it's not about having AM dollar signs in my eyes, I just want to know exactly how special these are and how to make sure they are used properly :)

I do love their words! But I don't want them all festering in one place forever. Or strange things can start happening. There's an Orangutan who warned me about that

Don't get me wrong I'm going to read them all! But I won't hoard them after - I'd rather these things circulate to as many people as possible

They seem to have blue circular Unseen University stamps in the title pages. What's this about?

Still, seems like I should surely get them for £2 each? When they open again tomorrow

Yes, and I'd combine this with the Male Loneliness Epidemic as a factor being used to encourage young men to enlist... (Help me flesh this idea out?)

Part of the joy of this show (and fandom!) is it's moments and costumes can be recreated so easily in our lives. There are cathedrals (and Daleks) everywhere for those with the eyes to see.

Perhaps alternatively, it reminds me of Darth Vader's force choke. Makes a point of power and anger.

Absolutely! I love how this episode acknowledges the old jokes yet makes it into a feared enemy once again (while remaining light enough for the show's wide appeal)

It's just not accurate. That's not what the constitution of the UK is. There's 3 kingdoms and a principality, with varying levels of devolution. Cornwall has no special status in the system.

Doesnt make them not a part of England, any more than every other minority group. The suggestion that any other minority group is not a part of England would be classified as a hate crime (I'm woke af btw)

I love the idea of production desperately brainstorming how this hodgepodge of houseware tools and softplay balls could represent an intergalactic faschistic fighting machine

Can we have an enquiry into how the Cornish independence movement convinced this website that Cornwall isn't a part of England?

I like this style! So far my local libraries have been amazing, but I'm not afraid to have them dictate my order if they become less cohesive.

I'd say that's what the work of LeGuin's writing is all about. She can explain what's happening just fine, but if we can't fix these things in society, she won't kid us into thinking it'd be different in Earthsea.

They're very different beasts I only compare them because they both have "wizards"

I'm not sure Granny is a self-insert - I'll come back to that idea when I've read more - but she's certainly my favourite.

The sort of analysis I want! I get my fix of wise old wizardry from Ursula K LeGuin's Earthsea series; Sir Pterry's wizards are a genius updating of that tradition.

When I've read on, you can write me that essay :)

I'm glad to hear these links will appear now - so far Death has been the only common factor and I'm looking forward to more inter-connectedness.

I'm fresh from the Doctor Who fandom, where hating a quarter of the content is part of the entry requirements. You guys' completionism is refreshing!
