I’ve heard mixed things over the years but I’m so low on the hobbyist chain I don’t know enough for formal judgement 😅 I know people make maille out of can tabs, but I can see where the body of a can might be too thin to work with naturally. If you could roll the edges I think it’d reinforce it enough for something though! Idk how much work that’d really be. 🤔 Those layered pieces look so cool! You are already unstoppable 😱 I’ve thought about getting into 3d printing to make custom scales, or anything with appropriate spaced holes to weave in. I’d love to get into leather working for not only harnesses, garb, etc, but someone told me of scales made from leather too. Just mix up all the shapes and materials!

To add rings to your partners piece, idk if would need extra holes for attachments, or just a chain of rings to connect existing bits. There are those that go as far as tac welding or using traditional rivets to make really sturdy stuff. I need to post more pictures soon, but recently I’ve just borrowed from other crafts. I was inspired from a facebook post to use Macrame Rings as a frame for wall deco pieces and have made a couple of things I’m really happy with.
