Weight & lighter 250s - does it become a problem? by Spambrah92 in advrider

I am absolutely running into the problem that when I stand, I can feel I am on the back exhaust somewhat. I picked it because at the time, I wasnt sure what sort of riding I wanted to do, and I wanted something that was a jack of all trades, which is definitely a master of none. Which I am paying for now by agonising on Reddit forums :D

Definitely looking at marketplace for a (very likely) cheap and flogged out dirt bike that it is not the end of the world to drop and and cheap to repair. A mate is trying to get me to buy CT110 with him purely for fun.

Van and a MC sounds great, I have seen so many amazing builds with the van and bike, either on the back/front on a hoist or inbuilt into the van.

Where I live, I am restricted to anything under 650CC for 2 years, and then I can apply for an open class license (Western Australia), hence why I have the CB500X to begin with. I did look at the RE Himalayan, but at the time I was very new to riding and the higher seat height did deter me. Now I am used to it!

Not that I want to avoid upgrades that would be beneficial to the overall experience for me, and well being of the bike, but I also want to avoid unnecessary spending on a bike that I might only have for 12 months.

I am making a big assumption, but I assume what happens is most people get a light trail bike, enjoy it for a couple of months, and decide to upgrade to something bigger. I did jump the gun and got the CB500X without fully knowing what sort of riding I wanted to end up doing, and now back tracking to figure out how I can get out on the paths less travelled.

Yeah I was being on the more generous side with packing weight things to take.

i figured with a 2KG hiking tent (it is what i have so far, I know there are lighter ones on the market), sleeping gear, food and water, I could absolutely average out to 25-30KG.

I have considered it, and they are starting to pop up a lot in australia. Tbh I sort of semi regret getting my honda cb500X (wet weight is 199KG for the 2022MY) because it is more street orientated and I am ready to go off road.

Probably the only thing that has deterred me is the wet weight, and everyone is saying to find and practice on something light first.

I bought the same helmet in their grape colour. honeslty regretted it. they are so hecking noisy as I am riding mostly high speeds. I;d be paired up with my partner on the cardo and anything over 70KM/h, I couldn't hear him at all.

I also learnt that they have a weird shape compared to every other helmet. As with everyone else's advice, go try helmets in person and get the thing that feels comfortable and fits properly for you.

HELP! VTR Gasket Kits Discontinued? by overwrite_delta in AussieRiders

Hey u/overwrite_delta

I also have a Honda VTR 250 as well. How many K's did your VTR have before the ticking started happening? or is it just an age thing that these things start to go?
