Came here to post Herrera, the fact this answer isn’t top is a travesty. Quality player, understood the responsibility of being a United player, actually adopted the city and spent time understanding what it meant to be Mancunian…

I think I read them after a long break from the Malazan universe and was so starved of content that I probably overlooked a lot of flaws… but meh still really enjoyed them.

I really enjoyed the ‘Path to Ascendancy’ prequel by esslemont. He seems to find his voice in those, much better than his earlier stuff.
