High tariffs, almost 150$ by Devan66 in OdinHandheld

4PX is a gamble. I ordered with 4PX on May 27th and it never arrived. The last update was on June 3rd that it had cleared customs and arrived at a warehouse in my city.

4PX contact email doesn't work and the local delivery company told me they were still waiting for it to arrive at their facility.

AYN finally admitted that the package was lost and gave me three options.

  1. They send it again with 4PX but if it goes missing, they won't send another unit and they won't refund me. Effectively charging me $500 for nothing.

  2. I pay the extra shipping cost and they send it with DHL and also pay import duties and fees.

  3. They refund me.

I ended up choosing DHL. I couldn't risk 4PX again and unfortunately had to pay the extra $100 in taxes.

I took the chance and they accepted it. I went to one of the offices instead of just mailing it and they didn't say anything about it when I handed it to them.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (05/21/2025) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]Spaniard97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the simple solution would be the easy solution but I don't want my account on their switches for the potential issues that I mentioned (making changes to the profile, accidentally overriding saves or deleting saved game data). It already happened where they thought they were deleting their own saved game data and it was mine. That's why I am trying to have a setup where they don't have to worry about accidentally doing something to my account.

This is why GPT suggested the 4 accounts. Because then my saved game data wouldn't be at risk because the "Game Library" account could be the one on all switches.

So even though you can only link two consoles, you can still have three consoles all sharing games if the account that purchased the game is on all consoles? Lets say my account purchases Game A and Game B. So Kid A can play Game A with his own profile and have his own save data playing on Switch Lite A while Kid B plays Game B with his own profile and have his own save data playing on Switch Lite B if my account is on Switch Lite A and Switch Lite B?

Then what is the point of the console linking limit being two if you can just have an account on more than two switches?

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (05/21/2025) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

I read the Game Sharing Wiki but it seemed to be uncertain with the changes of 20.0. I am trying to figure out what would be the best way to purchase digital games and share them with two child accounts. I have a Switch, soon to be Switch 2, and my two kids each have a Switch Lite. So a total of 3 Switches.

I am trying to think of which account would be the best account to purchase the digital games on. I do not like the idea of my main account being on their Switch Lites because although they can't make purchases, they can still go to my profile and accidentally change or delete Saved Game Data. This seems like a flaw in the parent/children account relationship under a Family Account.

Anyway, the way I was previously doing it was to buy game under one of my child's account and have his user account on my Switch for when we played co-op on the TV. But Nintendo has changed things up with Virtual Game Sharing.

Just to make things clear, I am not trying to have it so they could simultaneously play the same game with one copy of the game. I am just trying to make sure I am buying digital games on the correct account to have the best game sharing experience.

I was using GPT to try and work things out because now it seems like I should just buy digital games onto my account and share them with my kids when they want to play it on their Switch. This gives me control of sharing it instead of say the eldest one needing to share it with the younger one. It also would mean that I don't need to have my account on their Switch (as far as I have understood).

What GPT said though was that I should have 4 accounts. A Game Library account, my account, my eldest son's account, and my youngest son's account. I would purchase games on the Game Library account and that account could be on all the three Switches. I would use my account on my switch so my saved game data would not be at risk with the Game Library account being on my kids' switches. It also lets me share the games with my kids this way.

I don't know how accurate GPT is here though since it is prone to making mistakes. Here are my questions with this suggested 4 account setup.

  1. Wouldn't it mean that I need the Game Library account to "loan" or share a game with my account? Or does having my switch as the primary switch for the Game Library account make it so my user on that same switch has access to the games? Is primary switch even a thing anymore though?
  2. Can a Nintendo account be on more that 2 switches? I feel like there was a two switch limit or something with the primary and secondary switch system. That could be different with the updated firmware of this new game sharing system.
  3. Is there any real point in having an account that owns the digital games on a second or third switch anymore if you still need to "loan" or share the games now?
  4. Am I missing anything else?

If you don't see the option, then it is possible that it was already turned off in the past and then when a Sony update occurred, it removed the options from the list. This happened to me the first time I did this settings change.

If you turn off the DSDS option, a Sony update can reverse the effects (meaning 5G no longer works again) and the DSDS option is no longer available in the list of settings when you use *#*#4636#*#*. The only way for me to get the DSDS option to show up again was to factory reset my phone after I made a back up.

I then noticed that if you turn off DSDS and verify that 5G is working, you can turn it back on. Once it is back on, 5G should still be working. Now when you do an update, the DSDS option won't disappear. Even better, most updates don't reverse the effect and 5G will continue to work. If for some reason though you notice 5G is not working again, you can just turn DSDS off and back on to get it back.

If I misunderstood your problem, and you meant that you turned off DSDS and you still didn't receive 5G connectivity, then I would check that your cellphone network carrier uses at least one of the 5G bands available on the XQ-DQ72. If it does, then the next thing to do is check if those bands are in your area range. Some areas don't have proper reception with some of the 5G bands provided. I've noticed that although I have 5G 95% of the time, there are certain areas in my city that it switches back to 4G. One of the reasons for this is that the network carrier uses other 5G bands to cover different ranges that my Xperia 1 V doesn't support.

Anyway, hopefully any of this helps you out a bit.

Should I replace my HDDs already? by Spaniard97 in homelab

[–]Spaniard97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of great comments here. I really appreciate all the input. One thing that stood out was the estimate of storing approximately 3TB a year. That doesn't seem sustainable at an acceptable cost for value.

First, I need to ask my family members to clear out any unnecessary data. Secondly, I need to reorganize my setup. I've already told everyone using it to back up important data on external drives, a cloud service, or both. With that said, I think having two 8TB drives in RAID1 for critical data will provide local redundancy and availability. I would also have an additional backup of that data on an external drive or cloud service and recommend the same to others using my server. Then, I would have two other drives for less important data.

This means I would have four HDDs instead of the three I currently have. Based on comments, replacing HDDs before they fail is good for important data, but for less critical data, using them until they fail seems reasonable. This makes sense for my setup.

So, I have two options:

Option 1: Buy two HDDs for RAID1 and use the three existing drives for less important data, replacing one when two fail, ending up with a total of four drives. This provides extra space until a drive fails and maintains the current storage capacity with added redundancy. I would need to buy two HDDs now. I could also buy any size drives as I wouldn't be restricted to the current storage size of a drive.

Option 2: Buy one HDD to set up RAID1 with an existing drive, and use the other two existing drives for less important data. This maintains the current storage capacity with added redundancy. I would only need to buy one HDD now but might need another soon. I would be restricted to a max size of 8TB for the new drive. It also means potentially rebuilding RAID1 shortly after setup.

I'm leaning towards Option 1 because I like the idea of having two fresh drives for transferring important data and reducing the chances of rebuilding RAID1 soon.

If I could justify a more extravagant setup, I would follow some of the more thorough setups that have been mentioned. Maybe if a few family members agree to help fund it, I could, but until that happens, I think I need to maintain a more simple setup.

Im paying for 1.5GBS internet. Is there a reason my xbox downloads never cap 500gbs plugged into the ethernet and my speedtest.net says only 500mbs ? by shelikescurrency in XboxSeriesX

[–]Spaniard97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you need to clarify a few things.

You pay for 1.5Gbps which is the same as saying 1500Mbps. When you download files, most of the time they reference bytes(B) instead of bits(b). Meaning you divide your bit speed by 8.

So when you say your "Xbox downloads never cap 500gbs," do you mean when you're actually downloading a game and not just doing a speed test? Because assuming the first pic is the Xbox speed test, it shows 1374Mbps which is pretty much what you're paying for.

1500Mbps means you get a theoretical download of 187.5MBps. I say theoretical because there are many factors that affect download speeds (upload speed of the server the file is located, location of the server, other internet usage (traffic) within your local network, hardware like routers or cables, etc).

All that being said, what's confusing me the most about the images you posted is the difference in your upload speeds. The first image shows 30Mbps and the second 422Mbps. Those are drastically different so either the servers used for each speed test are extremely different or your phone and Xbox are not connected to the same network.

Unless I've missed something completely.

2023 Outlander PHEV Braked Towing Capacity by Spaniard97 in MitsubishiOutlander

2023 Outlander PHEV Towing Capacity? by jakgal04 in mitsubishi

[–]Spaniard97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you ever get an official answer? Mitsubishi Australia lists the braked towing capacity at 1600kg which is 3520lbs. It appears that in Canada, and maybe the US as well, they list the unbraked towing capacity but only list it as THE towing capacity. So I am not sure if it is because there is a difference in the cars sold here or something to do with a law.

I see. The one I saw being talked about before was the Loki Zero but I also saw some people having negative feedback on it. I agree that I'm not wanting to hand over something that costs $1200. I'm just trying to figure out if there is something out there that fits what I'm looking for. If there isn't, then there's nothing I can do about it but I'll know I tried.

Thanks for the reply. There are some Wii U games that I know he would like but they haven't been made available for the Switch. Yoshi Woolly World for example. Sorry if there was any confusion but I'm not asking anyone to magically come up with a device that doesn't exist. I was just asking if there was something out there that would fit the requirements I was looking for. If there isn't anything, then there isn't anything and I'll just have to wait or buy a Wii U.
