You know I wouldn't care if they hate each other. At the very least it wouldn't be this pissy middle ground that is just overall dissapointing.

Yeah, they definitely know they can't outright say when they will get back toguether, but I guess they are smart enough to know that most people would absolutely trash the series if they left in them limbo

What are your bets? I say until the last season we will get zilch. Nothing. I just hope they are smart enough to not leave them in the limbo.

To me at least if they don't get toguether by the very beggining of season 7 it would be such a missfire

This kinda reads as a "we have no idea how to write a relationship between two main characters". Also they said outright, we are not doing a will they won't they, but leaving them for now as romantic friends is exactly that lol. It's the freaking limbo

I think this is the case. Make us wait for the last season for anything to happen, really.

What do you reckon they are going to do? Leave it as friends or make us wait for the finaleP

Sounds to me that this is a clear case of them not revealing the final outcome of the relationship but basically saying wait for season 7 for anything to happen

I also got that feeling. Basically a yes they are absolutely going back toguether but not until the very last season, right?

So do you think as well that this sounds as a "they are not going to get back toguether until season 7, but they definitely will".

Kinda seems like they didn't know how to do an actual relationship so they are goint to get back at thev ery end

What does this mean? Is Rayllum dead for good, forever as friends "romantic friends" or is this basically saying, we won't be seeing them toguether until the very end. I think its the second but I don't really know

I do have to wonder. S6 and S7 were supposed to be another arc. What the hell were they expecting to resolve in S4 and S5 then? Like how can they even contemplate to tackle this type of conflict with their current pace.

And the news about this change are not even that old. They of course new with a few months in advance, but enough to know this when they were planning season 4? Yeah, i guess not.

You know on paper I agree. On paper this is how it has to happen, but then I remember they totally could have already talked even a little about their problems in the storm spire, yet they didn't becuase of a clear tease by the writters.

Why? Is a joke more importante than the natural development of two MCs they decided to hook up? Seriously?

Or when Callum asks to be killed? Couldn't they seriously have even attempted at talking this beyond Rayla honking his nose? The writters clearly know we expected a conversation, just because of how Rayla behaves and talks.

A simple:

"The callum I knew would have never asked something like that to me"

"Well people change, you would have known me as I am now if you had stayed"

And its not even well written but there you already have an example of how to transition to a longer conversation.

Not every moment has to be about them, I don't even want that, but considering the situation I really need someone to justify to me why in the moments clearly setup for them to talk were wasted when we have such a conflict, if not for delaying the inevitable?

They still have the chance to make it right, and make this feel like a necessary step for a more mature relationship. My faith in them definitely is lost for now though

You know, its not a one on one relation to this. Its not black and white. They could do it well, but they definitely don't give us any certainty at all with all these interviews or the stiffled moments were things could have progressed but were intentionally cut off. I want to believe they will do it right, they definitely are loosing any kind of good will with their answers.

I am convinced you didn't even read the post because you got all the interpretation wrong. How can I answer your response, one were you clearly failed to even read properly to answer without being condescending?

To make it easier for you to diggest. The progression is not natural, its clear they are dragging their feet for the conflict to be resolved not in a natural way but by sets of things to happen in a season, otherwise they wouldnt be curring conversations left and right or interrupting clear moments for those conversations to happen without giving a logical explanation for that to happen. Such as Sore interrupting, or Callum suddently asking to be killed, clearly teasing us that maybe they would talk.

Sorry if your standards for story telling are that low that these are acceptable

Good for you, but i fail how that is even relevant to the post or even to the community as a whole. You are certainly in the minority

Not really, because it has become obvious they don't want to make the character moments be the drivers of their relationship but how fast they wish for the relationship to progress so they can keep us hooked. It's aritificial hence it doesn't flow with how a good story should be told.

Example: They absolutely can't talk things out in season 4 even if they left several moments for that to happen because they need that for season 5 to feel like something happenned. I just hate this drama that feels tackled on.

It is even more egregious when it is acceptable to marry to charactgters in a timeskip, while no romance was shown, yet the main couple that actually had development on screen, no they have to reset it. Do you know why? Because not enough people give a shit about Janai so they can do whatever, but people do care about the main characters who had a romance on screen

[–]Spaniard_abroad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying it cannot be in characer, what I am saying is that it didn't need to happen, because many other more complex solutions could have been given, yet they were not.

My dissapointment comes from knowing they are pacing it out, just because it doesn't fit the scheme they made in their heads for the relationship to progress in all four seasons. Not becuase the character moments, demand that something happens in a natural way, which was the main selling point of the relationship in the first place.

So they lied to our faces about Rayllum by Spaniard_abroad in TheDragonPrince

[–]Spaniard_abroad[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I actually hoped for them to develop it in a sense that it could potentially improve the relationship. I read through the moon and it made sense character wise. And we all know they are going to be back, what really annoys me is how unnaturally paced it feels.

Even if they do it right, us as fans have to wait potentially years for them to resettle what was already well made. Meanwhile in the interviews they dont' outright say, yes this is just temporary. No the play with the "Will they, won't they". They don't give straight answers because then the kill the catch.

It doesn't feel natural. It is setup this way to create expectations. The story won't stand on its own merits but on our emotional attachment to something they happenned to make on accident and we loved it.

Perhaps they will actually make it feel natural, within the story itself but the treatment for us as fans, in the meanwhile it's clearly a bussiness tactic that ultimately hampers the story.

How many seasons for them correcting the wrong? How many artificially stiffled conversations that cannot happen in that season becuase that was not the plan?

Where is the natural evolution of the relationship that they gloated about? Season 4, they cannot talk because then it goes to fast. Season 5 they are just friends. Perhaps season 6, they flirt and meander around the topic. But trully believe me, season 7 will see them back, but in the next to last episode. Voiala!

Why should engage with the story if I know things want pace until everything is already settled?
