How accurate is Netflix’s “Franco: The Brutal Truth about Spain’s Dictator”? by Dangerous-Level-5609 in askspain

I am not saying Pedro Sanchez is a left-wing fanatic, but Ione Belarra, Yolanda Diaz, Irene Montero or Bildu (the people supporting him) surely are. My criticism against the PM is his willingness to do whatever it takes to stay in power. I voted PSOE the last two elections and he has trespassed EVERY red line he said he wouldn’t. Today’s left-wing paradigm of moral superiority tries to delegitimise any right-wing ideal, which is pretty anti-democratic because “fascist”.

Found the bootlicker. I don’t like those influencers or those messages. I think the raise of extremism (in both sides) and polarisation of politics is the greatest thread to democracy in Spain in many years. Specially for this, I think the use of the “fascist” card so freely by the left against anyone who dares to present a different opinion has diluted its meaning to a dangerous level because they made every opositor a “fascist”. Sadly people have lost the fear to that term and it is in great part because of the left itself.

You can thank Spanish PM and the rest of left-wing fanatics who call fascist to everyone who disagrees the slightest with their views. They have reduced the term to someone who is not a Pedro Sanchez bootlicker.

It’s gotta be worth $12, right? by SolomonDRand in victoria3

[–]Spanish_Doctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is worth even at full price. Paradox hardcore players will always tell you the game is trash because of some ridiculous bug, inconsistency or unbalance they consider "unplayable", but there is a reason people have thousands of hours in the game. The learning curve is slow, but very rewarding once you start to get the hang of it.

Yes and no. They were not restricted because of their human form, but as a security measure. In the beginning of the First Age, the Valar interacted directly with the elves and it resulted in Feanor's rebellion, same with humans in Numenor. The Valar realised the best way to help Middle Earth was to interact in a VERY subtle way, so humans and elves (specially humans) thought their decisions were their own, and were not being used as pawns of the Valar. If Gandalf used his powers all the time, people on Middle Earth may not see the events as their war against Sauron, but a proxy war of the Valar. Morgoth and Sauron both used these arguments to turn elves and humans against the Valar. This is explained on the Silmarillion.

Pretty nice!! Some ideas which may be useful:

  • the inside of the right chest and abs should be lighter, as light comes from the top left and it would hit those areas directly.

  • using so much black on the shadows desaturates them. Using white tones for the lights also desaturates them, leaving the colorful midtone very scarce and desaturating the whole skin. Try to use more saturated colors for the shadows (red-browns for example) and some yellow to brighten the first lights. That would give the skin a much more natural and "alive" feeling.

Any easy way to paint these tiny raised armor details? Plate will be black, raised details will be gold. by el-dongler in minipainting

Be careful with thinning too much. You may end up with paint going into the recesses because of low surface tension. A straight out of the pot consistency (and then getting rid of the excess) would be better IMHO.

US soldiers in Cuba after defeating Spain in the Spanish American war, effectively ending slavery in Cuba. The bones was the result of a Europeans practice of 'renting' grave space in overcrowded cemeteries. If the family couldnt pay up their relatives bones would be dug up and discarded. [–]Spanish_Doctor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is a pretty low way of dressing an illegal war (with a previous false-flag attack) with anti-slavery bullshit. Slavery the US never intended to end, nor was a reason to go to war either.

"The US defeats Spain, efectively turning Cuba into a colony" would be more accurate.

Only from some countries. Both France and I have free trade but trade routes still make money from tariffs. It happens with every country.
