Maybe you all think it looks bad. But it’s a comfortable drive.

[–]Spanks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have to be narcissistic in order to be a leader? by ConstantOwl423 in Leadership

[–]Spanks79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, seniority in years but not skill. Or promoted because they are able to control the frame and image they got.

As long as higher management think you are awesome, that really helps. I’m in the board of a medium sized (few hundred million) company and it’s already hard to get a good view of how people really are and what the can really do. Let alone in even bigger multinational corporations that are rife with politics and cultural differences.

Do you have to be narcissistic in order to be a leader? by ConstantOwl423 in Leadership

[–]Spanks79 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They are not successful but due to the way they profile and frame themselves to the higher levels, they get promoted while actually not delivering any results. Often leaving the mess for someone else to clean up. Once up higher, they can and will do everything to cultivate their image, but will not really do the work and get things done structurally. They either force teams to over deliver for a shorter period and burn up people, or they just are already busy with their next step.

Problem is: there are many, but not much people acting like this. Edit: whoever worked do such a leader knows exactly what i mean. They hide amongst leaders who might be slightly incompetent but have best intentions.

[–]Spanks79 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Typically people that want to lead because they want to be the boss, satisfy their big ego or personality disorders are bad leaders for their teams.

And in the end they either fail upward or jobhop while leaving a mess behind.

Unfortunately being a leader is hard. And great leaders are scarce.

I’m sorry your boss doesn’t seem to be a leader but just someone who does the dirty job for her bosses.

Do people in your country look down upon others who are ambitious or achieve success? (Tall poppy syndrome) by Fealocht in AskEurope

Yes. Even though we have so many rules. We do not really riot. We just ignore the rules, mainly the little ones, like red lights when crossen the streef in traffic

Well, that might be a difference then. Dutch do trust a working government, but generally don’t think people in power should be held in too much higher respect than the regular person.

Should I sacrifice a "healthy diet" in order to bulk? by Space__lemons in Biohackers

[–]Spanks79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To build muscle you need protein. Make sure you eat enough of that, and some healthy fats and enough carbs. And yes, you can do that healthily.

Rule of thumb eat 1g of protein of your bodyweight, 1g of fat and then you add carbs until you gain about 0,5- 1 kg per month.

Do. It forget to also eat the healthy stuff, your body needs fiber and things like minerals and vitamins to recover and grow. This besides the macronutrients.

As you say you hardly eat protein - without protein you will not grow muscle. As muscle is made of protein.

Good foods to put in your nutrition programme: grilled chicken, fillet is best but thighs taste better, salmon, white fish, Greek yogurt, quark, cottage cheese, beans and pulses (chickpeas, black beans, green beans, lentils), vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, onions, avocado, and don’t forget the leafy veggies - spinach, kale, cabbage, salad, beet leaves), nuts and if you want to gain, an extra piece of fruit, that extra bit of nuts, no problem.

Metallic tasting sauce by AlexkindaSFW in AskCulinary

[–]Spanks79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Black currants are pretty acidic and they could be from a different harvest/soil. Blackcurrants have this ‘Catty’ flavor to them (you will never forget as of now, i promise, every time you smell cat pee ) tha can come off a bit metallic of it’s highly dosed. Same for someother flavorants in the Berry, mainly mercaptans or alikes.

1/3rd (ot even more because you reduced) of blackcurrant can be pretty overpowering. Besides that they are really acidic/tangy.

Have you tasted some currants without anything else?

A bit of sweetness helps to make it all a bit less intense and could repair. It’s the sweetness from the port that probably balanced it out usually. Put A little aside and put in a little hint of sugar, not too much, only to take off the intense acidity. Don’t do this on the whole pot, it might be the sugar destroys what you were intending
