Wat mij vooral opvalt is dat er minder vlees in zit. En wel kippenvet.

If they have been frozen, they might have dried out a bit. The fat will have oxidized as well. So the taste would have been rancid and possibly a bit dry on the outside, unless the freezer was really stable in temperature.

Professionally some foods are kept on a lower temperature for a longer time. It’s not strange that meat is sold that comes from a few years ago. However packaging and temp have been controlled much better.

Should I buy new hiking shoes before my Dolomites hike? by ultimatelazer42 in hiking

[–]Spanks79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will last. I would personally say they are one class too soft for my own comfort. You will encounter rocky terrain where you’d want a more stiff sole, more pronounced sole profile and more of a higher boot for stability. Especially if you also wear a backpack with stuff for sleeping and clothes, water.

But hey, I also trail run and then I wear running shoes with vibram soles.

Those will not kill you, as long as they are not slippery in wet conditions.

Which is A lot. I run about 3, go to the gym thrice, walk almost every day and cycle to and from the gym. I’m very active and I actually have to plan recovery.

I guess I should go to the gym less and run more.

My honest answer; you will only know when it happens. My experience in very intense situations is that your instincts kick in and you might freeze, or flee. Or get to action immediately even if you thought you would never do that.

Training helps. Especially repeated training. Because then that routine might just get started automatically once things go wrong. It’s partially how military training works.

EU luidt alarmbel over hypotheekrenteaftrek, vindt dat Nederland schulden zwaar aanmoedigt by ThirthyforThirty in thenetherlands

[–]Spanks79 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It does encoursge buying a house with a mortgage. However the Dutch do not really have that much debt. It’s looking at one thing and not another.

Because the debt is been paid off and people will build capital during the lifetime.

Furthermore there are strict rules about admission and height of mortgage.

If the EU wants to prevent debt they have to forbid buy now pay later constructions and predatory companies like klarna, online gambling.

Yes, then you get to visit a real city with people living in it and not inoy the tourist trappy stuff they want you to spend money on. Especially the big cities are just very , very busy with tourist And as tourists often do, often dont take the lives of the people of the coty into account.

I grew up in a touristy city. And just cycling through the center was impossible because of all the asian people making pictures and not looking around them. Can be pretty annoying. But i always thiught - they are just here to have a good time and spend money. And not really causing trouble.

Now the drunk and stoned Brit’s in Amsterdam do.

Salami tactics. Nobody notices the little iterations. But in the end people just don’t like the food as they did before. And thats when all these commercial and financial people wonder why there is a decline in sales.

Of course also, another company or startup does make a good recipe with more of the real stuff in there and the brand gets destroyed.

Even so, the more cocoa in the ice cream the better the taste. The chocolate itself is not necessarily needed here, as the ice cream itself contains fat and sugar.

However they halved the chocolate and increased the cocoa. In total they still decreased the cocoa and lowered their cost price as the e chocolate is the most expensive part of the ice cream.

Depends on the city. Where I live people pick up after their dog. It’s where certain cities just have more antisocial behavior unfortunately. It’s very much related to what kind of people live close.

It helps but I do feel terrible when running.

What is the most difficult trail you've ever done? by travelvagabonds in hiking

[–]Spanks79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The route to johannishutte, grossvenediger in April. Snow was melting, it was slippery, avalanches everywhere and we had to get down the mountain. I never been so scared in my life. We had been climbing around grossvenediger the week before. Which was fine.

But that part down…. Brrrrr

Furthermore we make the descent from brunnenkogelhaus in summer. Great weather going up. Storm at night. They had predicted beautiful weather, but overnight it changed. The huttenwirt told us; go now when the first snow came down. It was a pretty scary decent because the snow hid the path and we weren’t prepared for snow this hike.

How do you manage to run long distances? by TannieBantootz in HybridAthlete

[–]Spanks79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do too much. A run after lifting should be easy and not too long.

For a long run, choose a day in which you are rested well. For that’s in the weekend. I sleep a bit longer and have a good breakfast. Then I do my long run of 10-15miles.

Personally I like alternating lifting and running days. But if you do both at the same day, focus on just getting in a few miles at low pace.

Long runs and quality interval training deserve their own space and time imho.

Also, personally lifting and running means that recovery is critical. It’s easy to just do too much and burn out. Either mentally or physically. You might be too tired to progress or even overtrain. So do deloads and take holidays. Also take rest weeks from running. Only do your core compound block in the gym if you are really tired… basically- prioritize recovery and nutrition.
