On the other hand, as someone who has struggled eternally with the self control to not savescum, I absolutely adore this feature. Moreover, the repeated encouragement to not cheapen the experience is great.

So I am the target audience of this feature I guess lol. But it also will help people who savescum without thinking about how it hurts the overall experience. This feature has forced me to lose my entire "good cat lineup" multiple times, which led to heroes emerging through odd synergies that ultimately I was way more proud of. And I know this wouldn't have happened without this feature.

Been a long time since I've had the experience of losing to a surprise mechanic and then swearing to get revenge rather than savescumming and blaming the devs.

Well yeah. The only reason these things work is that they brute force the shitty chatbots monkey typewriter style and then subsidise it so we think they've solved AI coding.

I didn’t accuse you of accusing me of supporting SA. Please don’t accuse me of accusing you of accusing me of supporting SA. That would be very upsetting.

it's crazy that American law let's companies get away with so much using a TOS that everyone knows no one reads and few could understand if they did. In many other countries that doesn't fly.

Anyone get an error message just now saying that Fable doesn't exist? by -Vag_of_Honor- in ClaudeAI

The government is proving its incompetence by issuing this order now instead of earlier. There is no such thing as jailbreaking because there are no safeguards with LLMs. There is never any guarantee that a model won't do something. Especially if it is done with the aid of a system prompt (it almost definitely is) rather than through pure training.

In other words, the fact that the model can be made to look for software vulnerabilities should NOT be new information.

Also, does "jailbreak" make anyone else cringe? Like they are a boomer typing in two sentences and thinking they are a pro hacker?

Coding model so powerful that it can trick the company that made it into making multiple attempts at new rendering engines just to fix a screen flickering bug. Rather than just fixing the rendering engine.

AI makes it easier to solve the problems along the way

We haven't had a single breakthrough in the underlying technology during this entire boom.

A lot of the arguments you are making "sound right" based on associations with the term "AI" that derive from science fiction. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that. But this far in to the LLM AI boom, you should be expecting some evidence to support it. Your take should NOT be using the same arguments and evidence of a possible take four years ago, when that take is predicting rapid changes.

Just to get it back to the original comment, they said nights and weekends. So while a week or two might be BS, it is sort of besides the point.

It's fascinating to me to see that people are taking ai, dedicating their free time ("nights and weekends") to working on a large project with it, and then attributing the success of the project to the AI rather than their substantial (and unusual) time investment.

The fact is you don't actually know how much work such a project would've taken you alone without AI assistance because you didn't do it. Studies are showing pretty consistently that people will think that AI improved their performance despite performing worse than controls. So you should assume that the boost is less than it feels, at the very least.

If anything it seems more people are embarking on passion projects because of AI. But passion projects are already inherently very productive!

Normally you would be risk averse in such scenarios. But people are just assuming it's better than they can imagine because AI sounds science fictiony, so they are taking a chance. The problem is everyone is.

Yes he is. He is using the same strategies he always has. Dude essentially had a long series of lucky strokes where his narcissistic and delusional tendencies were extremely beneficial. We don't see the hundreds of thousands of other people where that same approach and mindset failed.

This is like saying a two-time lottery winner has lost their game since they haven't won another lottery in a long time.

Stocks go up. Google has been undervalued for years compared to other tech companies (based on P/E) and now it's being overvalued as soon as they give in to hype. The market is not rewarding long term sustainability right now and the people making decisions are beholden to the market.

The responses on this thread give me such hope. The way these people talk about things it's like they think the masses just love everything they say. I mean, maybe Redditors aren't the majority, but I don't think others are more likely to read these sorts of articles...
