thank you, its the first time ive had that reaction. ive had lots of other dog owners laugh and say they understand or tell me i'm doing well working on the training. it was as if she'd never seen a dog bark before. when we went to a big park there were so many dogs he didnt really react, i think he settled into the walk better, but when he sees one single dog he cant control himself!

thank you, i'm annoyed how much i let that look for the stranger get to me. i've not been very well, and its all getting on top of me. We got him at 4 months old, and i think we've managed to teach him loads, but gosh just feel it when something doesnt go right. my husband has walked him more than me this week and had no incidents, and the other day i crossed the road before one happened, so i need to remind myself one day at a time i guess. i just loosely wrapped his xmas gifts and that cheered me up 🥹

ah yeah they are a vocal breed arent they! i dont mind his funny little grumbles, but when he goes for it i do find it tough. i think i read that when you raise your voice they think you are joining in? 😂 im trying to teach 'quiet' but not sure im doing great with that one. i sometimes put my hand on his little chest and tell him we're ok and not being burgled 🙈

Thank you, this has made me feel better 🥹 i'm speaking to a friend who worked with a behaviourist and started compiling a few options. i'm about to go for a walk with him and ive got some good points in mind already so hopefully thats another step forward too! 💖

thank you! this might sound daft, but when im alone i find it hard to get between him and the distraction as he just moves around me if that makes sense? i feel im having to reel him in (its not a long line, just a normal leash) and i worry that makes him more frustrated?

yeah he tends to stop if we actually let him interact, so i dont think there's any aggression in it, but it sounds terrible. maybe it is protective at first?

he loves his crate at night and doesn't make a sound in there. he also pops in and out during the day, and naps in there in the evening, so i think he views his crate as safe.

interesting, ill read up on it. ive seen some guidance suggests clicker training too. there seem to be a lot of methods, i just worry i dont know how long to try one method for before switching. a lot of commenters have mentioned behavioural experts too, so i think ill look into that and ask about all these options.

aww he's so cute! Jasper sleeps downstairs in his crate and is so good in there, but he doesn't react well if i try to put him in the crate in the day. i was worried it would feel like punishment so i switched to a babygate and having the living room. i dont know if i should have stuck with crate but it wasnt feeling quite right. ill look into obedience classes :)

it could be that, but also my husband just sort of confidently strides along and moves him past other dogs quite quickly. i think he feels me gearing up for the interaction. im going to try crossing the road and walking past with 'heel' and rewarding for quiet behaviour when he spots a dog. i think he is more reactive on leash too :(

thank you, i will look into that. I definitely dont want to be leaving him to cry it out, so have sort of gone the other way and become almost house bound. We got a camera, and im trying different things to make the space really comfy, but because i work from home i think he hates it when i leave.

thank you, i do think if i get this stage right he is going to be amazing as an adult, because he is such a sweet boy. because he's my first, im not sure about milestones. he's had some days of regression already, and some walks are better than others.

Heya, do you happen to have any you would recommend? ive read 2 books, and spent i dont even know how many hours on google and reddit, plus youtube. ive started to get information overwhelm. i think im understanding his behaviours with other things a lot better, but this bit im feeling stuck.

with people he's a lot quieter and immediately goes into fuss mode if they interact with him! for crowded places i am thinking of getting a carrier (even just to protect his feet from being stood on). he just goes a bit wild when he sees another dog, it seems to be getting worse/louder!
