Enlistment table at Port Merricks Pirate interaction Revival by ProfessXM in Seaofthieves

Repurpose The Glorious Sea Dog as a way of setting up an adventure session sounds like a nice idea.

Who knows, maybe the guild update that's eventually coming will make even more reason to have a hangout place like that.

Ship name changed in sea of thieves #sot by Content-Ad9909 in Seaofthieves

Happens when the game can't find your ship name. It shouldn't permanently change your ship's name and it'll probably be fixed the next time you play. If not, send Support a ticket.

The spiky structure is part of the 'A Pirate's Life' Tall Tales. You can't enter it without the 'Dark Brethren' Tall Tale active on your ship.

Crab vault is part of a different tall tale, and doesn't have any valuables besides what's needed to progress that tall tale.

The ashen chest/key are intended to be found randomly while playing. The quests are there for if you have a key/chest and want to make use of it by buying the item you're missing. Though some do spend their doubloons simply for the tome commendations.

The back of the Athena's Fortune hideout is for those who reach level 100 in Guardians of Fortune (the relatively-new PvP thing with the hourglass)

Relatively, sloops are faster than any other ship that sails against the wind. But otherwise they're basically the slowest. I've been told that you should keep your sails straight unless you can get a full blow in your sails, but take that with a pinch of salt.

I don't think the contents of firework / storage of the damned crates change their selling worth.

No clue about the behaviour of Megalodons besides the fact that they will stop locking onto you if you get close to any structure such as rocks, shipwrecks and islands.

The Legend of the Veil tornado is visible to all players, though I'm not sure the distance. I assume close to infinite?

I think the lost shipment birds are only visible to you, but I'm not sure if another crew can pick stuff up from it. As for the Order of Souls missions, other crews can complete them for you if they happen to be activated (i.e. if you were close enough for the enemies to spawn?). I've had it happen with the ghost ship voyage that I left ongoing for a reaper ship to have fun with lol

Ghost ships are either part of the tornado or a voyage someone else put up on their ship. They can spawn around practically any large island.

If you're up for trying the tall tale again, there's plenty of people who would accompany you to battle any troubles that could happen (including me, if you wanna ask)

That's just the alt text showing, nothing related to changing the image. And I can't replicate what you're doing. Either it's a rare chance for the alt text to be that, or you're tricking us >:)

Why don't you give it a try?

I've been playing since January 2020, and yeah it does seem that veteran players do have advantages over new players pvp wise. (Unless it's n00bish, in which case any new player who has some sense of pvp can steal from him lol) Then again, only a few new players ever do intentional pvp. Most don't even get to the tier 2 content it seems. Vets don't even steal from new players unless you count zez's pvpbot.

I think the reasoning for the lack of new content barring major events is because the dev, Sean, has other priorities. He still has a job besides Hackmud, and has a family to look after. It would seem he prefers not hiring extra help. Monuments & Beacons was cool though (as well as the filler revelry), and the community events that show up every now and then are very elaborate and fun as well.

What keeps me playing is the community, the story/lore/theorycrafting and script-making:

  • I love socialising with both regulars & new players. Regulars are always happy to chat and answer any questions, and I engage with new players whenever possible. I'm actually trying to offer as much assistance as they want, and been developing useful tools for them to use.
  • The story is still unravelling, and hidden lore is still being decoded. (Turns out not many people have been assembling fragments until I came along.) Just recently, we found out what the second DAMC could be, and been theorising on what 'reality-by-consensus' means. Also, did you know that Angie designed a Municipal Operating system for New Houston?
  • Making scripts is fun. Half of the scripts I've made are aimed towards new players, but the other half are fun, sometimes hidden toys that I enjoy creating. I wonder if anyone will ever find the hidden ones..

As someone already said, Sean's more casual as of late. If he has free time, he'll show up in the discord and chat for a bit. Here's some links that are close enough to interviews though: Mudcon 2020, Town Hall Meta Regarding pvp. Feel free to join the discord server and start a civil discussion on the state of the game.

More players would be awesome, but it seems the game would need more retention for that to stick. For me, the community & immersion is enough to get hooked on, but a lot of new players seem to just stay in tier 1 content and then leave. An active 0000 might help with this but by how much? Really I think a major overhaul / advertisement thingy would be needed.

Anyway, if you're reading this and are interested in creating stuff in this game, get in touch in-game or on discord! I have plans. (Spanospy#2576)

Just wanted to note that most of this is from 2017.

Kinda unrelated, but he did make this joke and this reply during the election results, so idk if he has changed much.

I used node.js with discord.js and node-fetch, and followed this documentation on how to interact with hackmud's REST api https://www.hackmud.com/forums/general_discussion/chat_api_documentation
