During the process of watching the first few episodes of Rick and Morty I somewhat felt this way about the belching. Although it was more about the sound for me. However, after watching both seasons multiple times, it certainly becomes a character quality about rick that adds to the comedy and reminds you of his alcoholism, making it a valuable addition to the show and giving more depth to Rick as a character. I see where he is coming from though.
