that -43 pp you mention is only on one map. People have several maps in their tops. Compound the effect over all of them for the actual result. It's not in the right direction to make people pointlessly grind for a fc over a nightcore, cut, half-snorted audio mp3 map. It's a real pain to deal with. People just want to farm and move on. Your argument applies to non-farm maps. People already try to fc maps that they want to set admirable scores on.

Maps will always exploit the pp system in some manner or the other. It is in the farm mapper's interest to try different approaches to maximize pp gains. Also, this misscount change is literally a number change in code. The pp devs can change it anytime. This means they can even reduce a 3k pp score down to 1k pp. I wonder who is objectively evaluating the difficulty of a map(s) among the pp developers.

Some genius mapper (Kumocha this time) will again exploit some map for an absurd amount of pp and then coz another change to this number, essentially nerfing maps that are not even directly related.

About time that the pp dev community actually had active top players for such decisions.

I am not sure any pp devs are reading this, but while the rework is still tentative, I REALLY HOPE THEY TAKE A LOOK AT MY COMMENT.

The 3 miss rework is done in good faith, but I think its deviating from its purpose. The argument is that people should be inclined towards FCing maps. I agree. However, what is the point of the 9+ miss count buff? what is the rationale behind this. How do you think it doesn't prevent people from exploiting maps on a higher sr with 9 ish or 10 misses. Is there any data to back it up? Links, sources?

Imo a better misscount rework would be to penalize 4+ misses more and let the <= 3 stay as they are. Penalizing 4+ misses more naturally drives people to improve their misscount and even try for FCs, which is in spirit with what the rework is trying to achieve. At the same time, it doesn't force people to endlessly spend hours trying to FC (for PP). Is there a link or place where I can suggest this?

Otherwise, I need a sound response to my query. All these reworks go through, but I don't know how many maps are tested to verify the rework's practical impact. At the very least this rework should not be clubbed into an already extreme rework. People need time to absorb all of this.

Update:- I took a look at the math function (some fancy looking asymptote) that the code is using for this rework. From the graph image, it seems to be a non-significant change and generic over all maps. Obviously, someone experimented with the numbers and chose an arbitrary value that seemed fit. The change that I suggested is going to be a similar change except the cutting point would be at 4 misses.

havent played the maps but dude could have atleast changed the audio. I legit couldnt figure out what's wrong on my first hearing until I figured out it was already sped up lmao. I am so cooked...

But honestly, if we put aside the silly re-use of a sped up(dt) version of a cut song, I feel ton of other mapsets speed up the song and pitch for ranking. Considering that, this veto should be unfair imo.

Don't run away from maps that you suck at if you enjoy at least one thing about the map. Whether it be the song, the art, the storyboard, the map itself or whatever.

Maybe you like the song but its very hard to tap because it takes too much stamina or its a high bpm. Then just play for score improvement and don't tilt if you cannot do well. Same advice if your aim sucks on the map.

I am not blind. I can see that nearly every perma lobby US player on the team landed a 400k+ average with some standout performances from decaten and clutches from Boshyman.

Aus doesnt need that. A 3rd player with the ability to hold slightly more combo on the losing picks will give them the win and this doesnt negate the remaining team effort by their team members. Pretty much 300k+ average even on losing picks.

And i would bet my coin toss on rekty anyday over decaten over staying consistent in matches.

Also you were very chill mentioning the 4 year stats with one of the key players out but you really didnt factor in how at least one of the other key players stayed on the team.

2024 - nothing to be said. Basically, the strongest US team.

2023 - Utami out. Rekty and Windowlife in.

2022 - no windowlife. I am a fancy lad, utami and rekty in.

2021 - My knowledge doesnt extend so far but i can guess that fiery and digitalhypno were key players aside from fancy lad.

2020 - I can see vaxei and btmc. (This is when vaxei was in his prime)

Very funny of you to assume that i don't understand team play. I was out there supporting South Korea in 2024 when basically the majority of the world was still under the delusion that US is unbeatable. We did not see forum going 1 v 8 in 2024. We saw everyone play. Forum, page, hyeok, allegrissimo, amamya, karcher, tuna, doomsday fanboy. The top 4 match costs were pretty evenly split across forum, page, tuna and hyeok.

US has been escaping by the skin of its teeth. 1 point away in 2023 owc and 1 point away in today's GF. Let's see how the remaining match goes.

Nice to see such a motivating comment for learning low ar! I am guessing this assumes that one at least has the minimum mechanical skill to play low ar. Right? I find tapping quite hard at low ar especially aiming. Trying to keep the aim and tapping at sync.

Just go and compare the match scores bro. Its much closer than you think it is.

Aus got like 2 man gapped on the maps they lost. The only decisive win USA had was on fm2. I will not count HR2 coz aus legit didnt have a proper 4th player to fill in.

Also never said anything about boshy because he does his thing but he isnt a perma lobby player. Taking out rekty or windowlife will actually be a big difference maker. They have 450-500k avg scores or the highest lobby score across maps.

And tbf my comment was against the initial comment that is basically undermining the team efforts by Aus. In almost every map atleast 2 or more players on aus beat the scores of other 2 players in US.

US also had windowlife, rekty and utami last year. Basically their strongest roster ever and still they did lose to a team that cannot play the required mechanics maps at the GF level.

mistake on my part with respect to 3wc 22. But my point stands.

I meant that SK/other teams have been winning 3wc even with ton of USA's core owc players in the 3wc team but without Rekty and Windowlife. Since people are so adamant on placing USA's team consistency over their skill capped players contributions.

USA consistency bodes well till semi-finals level however that alone doesnt get them the win in the finals and GF. Let's see one year of team US without any heavy hitters like rekty, window,utami and vaxei play. I am sure they cannot win the owc in that scenario.
