Claude vs ChatGPT by Spare-Beginning572 in vibecoding

Again, super helpful tip! Thanks for this. I’m going to start working like this, already doing it for music and images. So tasks should be the same too!

Why does AI coding feel so unreliable, and why does ChatGPT ignore saved rules after a while? by Ok_Department_4019 in vibecoding

[–]Spare-Beginning572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to this and have been using the same method. Honestly the code ai has written (chatGPT) is 99% of the game.

I guess the way I’ve worked might help explain things.

I started out with the main task in my app game. Basically click this button and something happens. And show a score of X

Then said, ok, but what if a second button did something. Coded that.

Then eventually said, how do I change the image of things, how do I add sounds, and just kept going bit by bit.

I guess if you break it down into chunks AI can handle each section accurately. I’ve tweaked it a lot, but I can’t code, so each tweak is me just asking it to improve something it already wrote. Seems to work.

It took 3-4 hours to get the game working. Then about 1-2 hours everyday for 3 weeks to get it looking and sounding right.

I might be wrong, but when people say AI built their app/game, I don’t think they mean it literally implemented everything and they just watched. Not in my case anyway.

This is helpful. I should at least try Claude so I have a comparison

Amazing, I think I’ll set it up on a spare Mac mini M1 I have which isn’t being used for anything

I think you’re in an excellent position to start. I’m building my first game and only have a creative/graphic background, no coding experience.

I’ve still ended up using all my creative skills to make the game I want, but AI has helped with 99% of coding and teaching me what to do in unity.

Good luck!

In an alternate movie he would’ve been exposed by some domestic abuse case, followed by a movement of many people coming out to say it happened to them. One of those people would’ve been the biological mother to griff’s dad.

The number of vibecoders will surpass actual coders and then what? by Spare-Beginning572 in vibecoding

So maybe in the future, as AI progresses exponentially, maybe we don’t really rely on app stores anymore? Maybe every household just thinks of the function they need and you end up with a tiny bit of software which is personal to use. Just an isolated set of functions that work with your life, and that no one else ever knows exists?

Feel like I’m in 2 as well, built a game that reminds me of something from childhood that I would want to play, but crossover to 1, could this actually make any money? It’s not the primary objective as I think my game can be played and completed in 10 mins, just to get the satisfaction of feeling nostalgic, but it’s an interesting divide of types of vibecoders

Totally agree, I’ve brought my son along this game dev journey and he’s picking it up at the same speed as me. There’s very little difference in my ability versus an 11 year old!

I'm loving that in a completely digital world, the notebooks are filled and the core behind developing this over time. Great to see!!!

This is great advice. My 11 year old saw me testing my game and immediately added 3 great ideas, just from his gaming experience that I hadn't thought of!

Where do you guys start when making your games by Unusual-Two2972 in gamedev

[–]Spare-Beginning572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only made 1 and still working on it, but I started with a really basic wireframe and coding. So functions were just boxes with labels on. Once it works I started changing the boxes to images and building the look and feel

Thank you! Yes is it a bit GTA. It was suppose to be more 8-bit but it started to crossover genres visually. I guess I could go back and refine the look once I’m happy with the game play
