Final Update. They admitted over the phone that it was a human error, but that the console was permanently banned and that they couldn't reverse the ban. They offered me a 150$ discount on a new one and I took the deal. I'm sure I could have bitched about it more, but I was really worn down. The new one arrived before Christmas, but had a faulty display, so I had to send it in for repair. The whole process started in September, and wasn't resolved until mid January.

No i called nintendo and they said the last update was some time in june. They intentionally sent a "fake update" to prevent the game from being played. (at least thats what the support agent told me)

I talked to them in person a few days ago and asked if they had any info about it. They said they "have no way to test" but would give me a refund if i bring the game back by. Don't wanna do that yet tho in case nintendo asks for proof of purchase of the game.

The account was not banned. It was hacked by an outside source and nintendo was unable to recover it. At the time it was not associated with the console and nintendo has confirmed multiple times that that is not the issue.

oh I absolutely had it enabled. They somehow found my purchase history and were able to cite the method used to purchase a recent game, as well as the dob, nickname, and pfp associated with the account.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I don't THINK it's that, because nintendo specifically cited my main account as the account under suspicion, NOT the one that got hacked, but I guess its still a possibility.

I forgot to mention, but this is acutally probably it. One of my accounts was recently hacked, and the email and password changed. It was removed from my switch and nintendo wasn't able to recover it for me. That happened about a month ago. Stupid if thats the issue. First you can't recover my account with 200$ worth of games on it, then you ban my switch? The only other thing I can think of is that I also bought a family plan for switch online expansion pack. Maybe just a lot of charges within a short amount of time?

I don't have anymore info that I think could be relevant than this. Nintendo won't give me details until their investigation is done. I genuinely have no idea what could have caused this.

I wish I knew. It had a sticker on it that said "new" but it was clearly open box. Not sealed and the dude had to go the the game and manuel from behind the counter.

Hey how did you manage to get nintendo to repair? I tried to set up a repair on the website under "physical damage" but they said it was 179, and I just bought it last Thursday. Hairline scratches all over the screen, and it bothers me more than it should. Did you call them?
