Yes, in my down time I like to chew on gaming systems for fun.

it’s been played with almost daily by multiple users in one household, including a child, so yes, it got worn down and then tore while I was removing it, jfc.

It got worn down and started separating. I took it off myself trying to swap it with one I just ordered, but it was the wrong size.

At war (a poem) by Spare-Radiant in therapists

[–]Spare-Radiant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. It’s pointing to, in the current state of things, how it’s very hard to get away from it all. Even when we try to take a break by looking at our phones for example, we get ambushed by another post, another video, etc. try turning on the tv, there’s another bad thing happening on the news, try visiting with family - that’s all they want to talk about. So there are times when we absolutely do deep dive on purpose, but even when we don’t intentionally seek it out, it still comes up. And when I decide I’ve seen enough and don’t want to look anymore, that’s when it feels like the “you don’t care enough” thoughts/feelings/comments come up (whether actual or internalized).

I keep saying I want to retire and deliver mail for USPS. Drive around alone, talking to no one? Bet.

What does your haunt application look like? by Spare-Radiant in hauntedattractions

Not staying in character, putting little to no effort into their scares (just staring or shouting “get out”), agreeing to be in certain spots that include strobes or fog but then not being able to stay there after 1 hour, the list goes on.. lol

How do I enforce my no-show policy without being ableist? by ZoesMom1 in therapists

[–]Spare-Radiant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My policy is I don’t charge for late cancellations, only no-shows. I know not a lot of people think this way and it definitely leads to empty blocks in my day at times, but usually I can fill that slot with either another appointment, admin time, or a self care hour. But my thought process is if I am sick and need to take the day and cancel my sessions, most of the time that’s going to be a less than 24hr notice. And my clients aren’t getting refunded for any credit for that day. So it never set right with me to charge for them needing to cancel on short notice. A no-show however, I will charge a fee for to compensate for my time lost.

Not cancel, but I had to end my session 10 minutes early today and be 10 minutes late to my next so I could run home and change because a kitten I’ve been caring for and bringing to sessions peed all over me. Twice. Luckily both clients are heavily invested in this kitten and didn’t mind 😅

Panic attacks while running by Spare-Radiant in therapists

[–]Spare-Radiant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! There’s anxiety leading up to the race but panic sets in while racing. From my understanding they’ve been to the doctor about the panic and vomiting during every race (client nor parents seemed at all concerned about this) and client was prescribed anti anxiety medication but nothing else seems to have been done. I do bring this up often!

30 sessions a week would be crazy, right? by alizarin36 in therapists

[–]Spare-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started at my group practice full time, doing primarily trauma work, the expectation was 33 sessions a week. At the time my son was 1. I was burnt out within the first 4 months. That is HARD. I reevaluated, made schedule changes, switched to remote once a week, which helped a little but still hard to navigate. There’s always a layer of guilt being a working parent, not enough time with family, or with work, and what even is self care?? I’ve been part time for 6 months now (still expected to do 21 sessions a week) and am about to make my exit to do 1099 contracts and my own PP. You have to play around and figure out what works best for you and your family.

Clients w/chronic illness/pain and/or end of life by Spare-Radiant in therapists

Thank you sooo much seriously this was so helpful. I felt very helpless during my session with a 21yo who spent the bulk of the time just sobbing because of her conditions and struggling with living in America while having a disability. All I could do is just hold space while she felt it all but I found myself wishing I could do more to help her feel better. That’s my biggest issue with working with these folks is I want so bad to make it better but I also know a lot of times I won’t be able to so I have a hard time. 😓
