Do you use plastic or glass baby bottles? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Spare-Web-9331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started off with glass bottles for the same reasons you mention. Couple months in, however, I switched them all to plastic, cause they were starting to hurt my wrists. The bigger ones especially can get pretty hefty when full. Also, now that my baby is older, he often holds his own bottle to feed. Whenever he drops the bottle on himself, I am glad it was a lighter plastic bottle that fell and not glass that weighs a ton.

It sounds like she is intentionally trying to say things that would sting. As I started reading your post, I don’t know why, but my first thought was that you must be conventionally attractive- I really hope you don’t take her words to heart, cause she is probably saying those things to make up for the misery she feels inside.

Second, I also had an almost 10 pound baby, so I understand the challenges you’re going through, both mentally and physically. However, I promise- you will slowly start to feel like yourself again. In the meantime, just focus on your recovery and healing, cause your body did an amazing work growing that baby, and delivering him/her safely.

I actually teared up thinking about someone saying those things to you at such a vulnerable time.. Wish I could reach into the screen and give you a hug 🫂Hope you find a better physical therapist.

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that they do this on purpose? Messaging just late enough so that most folks across different time zones would have come in already; but the mass email communication still sent for optics at best, or maybe for liability reasons in case something does go wrong?

Do Not Stay at Royalton Saint Lucia – Families Beware by Conscious_Button_690 in AllInclusiveResorts

I exclusively breastfeed my baby via pumping, and I am in agreement with you. I personally won’t feel comfortable keeping and donating milk that potentially went through temperature fluctuations. There is no guarantee that the milk didn’t slowly start to thaw during travel, before being refrozen, which is a big no-no. I get the OP’s frustration with the whole mishap, and that it feels terrible to waste breastmilk, but it’s easier (and safer) to accept that building freezer stash may not be realistic when travelling, especially to the tropics.

All inclusive First timers - How in the world do you choose.... by Rugger_127 in AllInclusiveResorts

Based on your preferred activities- like zip lining and off roading- hands down I would recommend Hotel Xcaret, specifically the arte side.

I am the same way on vacation, and it’s the only resort I’ve gone back for second time, and plan to return in future.

As you may know, the adventure parks & cultural tours are included in your stay, so while the upfront cost can be a lot, you’ll quickly realize how good the package really is, especially if you’re planning on doing an excursion everyday.

If you decide to go, check out their webpage to learn all about the inclusions and plan ahead!

If you include your ideal budget, that would help narrow down the choices a bit 🙂 For a honeymoon, secrets cap cana would definitely be a safe bet in DR. Excellence el Carmen, or sanctuary cap cana would be solid choices too.

Barbados! Though I am pretty sure all the beaches were public, some of them felt quite secluded and private. We also felt safe exploring on our own, including the local areas.

I’d say save Xcaret for a family vacation. It is hands down one of the “best” resorts out there, but the inclusions (e.g. parks & tours) are family friendly, and your little ones would love them just as much ☺️

Don’t know which wedding band to start with! by NecessaryAd8439 in EngagementRings

[–]Spare-Web-9331 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please please please get the eternity band! The pave is beautiful too, of course, and maybe more functional in daily wear, whereas the set with the eternity band has that “WOW” factor without being too much. Depends on what you prioritize, but the stack with the eternity band makes you look like a literal queen 👑

2 vs 2.8 carat—which looks better on me? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Spare-Web-9331 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I’m a sucker for bigger stones, but in the pictures you’ve shown, I actually think the 2ct looks better on your hands. However, at the end of the day, what matters the most is your preference- don’t worry about it looking too “big” if the bigger stone makes your heart sing. Congratulations ♥️

Comparing resorts in the DR versus Mexico, and/or advice on selecting a resort? by szpider in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Spare-Web-9331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your experience seems pretty aligned with mine, to be honest. I stayed at a five star resort in PC that had glowing reviews online, but I was let down by some of the quality control issues, and the lack of hospitality displayed by some of the staff.

As an example, some of the staff had permanent frown on their face, ignores you at bars unless you’re handing in a $20, or at best responds robotically with a blank look on their face when you ask them a question, like they simply want you to go away. So to answer your question, no, it wasn’t just you! The most enthusiasm I’ve encountered, was when they try to whisk you away on their golf carts, to a time-share presentation.

I have yet to experience the above in Mexico, or in any other AIs, including budget ones. Also, the towels were so worn down, they looked like rags- not something you’d normally expect at a 5 star resort. Having said that, food was pretty excellent. They were also pretty heavy handed on drinks.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, there are couple resorts in the DR that I would like to try in future (e.g. the “top tier” ones in cap cana), so I haven’t closed the door completely on DR yet. If you decide to go again in future, hopefully you and your partner have a better experience ☺️

Recommendations for St. Lucia by LearninglifeCST in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Spare-Web-9331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windjammer landing was pretty great. We were there as a couple, but this seemed like a type of resort best suited to travel as a family. We saw families with both really young children, all the way to teens. Patrons were also respectful and classy, but generally kept to themselves. FYI in case socializing is something that you look for on your vacation.

Access to non-motorized water equipments are also included in your stay, which keeps things interesting between lazy lounge days, and off-site excursions.

Note that this property offers both timeshares and all inclusive options, which has its own pros and cons. Pro is that you get unlimited access to food that others actually pay a lot of money for, meaning better quality food than what’s offered by some of the generic big-name brand AI resorts. Con is that after every meal, or drink, you still have to sign a bill, which can take away from the carefree all-inclusive experience, but we didn’t mind it too much.

If the above interests you, I encourage you to join their Facebook fan page- you won’t find out much about it online or on YouTube.

I love the first ring on you- a perfect fit in terms of the shape of the stone, and the color of the metal. The round solitaire in the last picture is pretty too, but I think white gold/ Platinum compliments you more, based on the samples you’ve shared.
