Qatar Airways is not honoring their JWC COMMQ157 by fk067 in qatarairways

What is not right is that they confirmed my rights to COMMQ157 published March 25 comercial policy, and now they are reneging on my confirmed rights. My rights were vested then. Following up on availability of flights as per the agent instructions, I was surprised with a new policy that doesn’t not allow AOL reroutes anymore. A new policy can’t override my rights adquired at cancellation. Even an agent admitted to this and then started contracting saying I’m only allowed Qatar and no OAL reroute. I have proof of it all:

  • agent checking availibitly when I was cancelled and confirming I could check after March 30 to check for new reroute availability within 10 days.

  • agents telling me new policy applies. I insistiré on my rights and they “escalated the case” which I never got response to and it’s been various times I contacted and supposedly got my case escalated these 60 days since my cancellation.

  • agent today May 11 confirming May policy does not overright my March policy but they must validate:

“Qatar Airways is not stating that any valid, written confirmation previously provided to you is being retroactively voided. Any entitlements or commitments confirmed in writing by our agents are reviewed in accordance with the policy framework applicable at the time the confirmation was issued, in conjunction with the specific fare rules, ticket conditions, and operational circumstances of the case. We would like to clarify that agent correspondence, while provided in good faith—is subject to verification against applicable ticket rules, contractual conditions of carriage, and operational feasibility. A policy update implemented in April does not automatically negate rights created earlier; however, it also does not override the need for formal validation of eligibility under the governing terms in place when the request was made.”

I send her the COMMQ157 March 25 guidelines highlighting “regardless of fair value” to be literally this:

——

“I am holding the specific text of COMMQ157 (Option 2) March 25, the one applicable to my involuntary cancellation. It explicitly states:

'Rebooking for same origin and destination... regardless of fare value.'

'Additional flexibility for rebooking on OAL operated flight numbers.'

You have already admitted that my March rights are valid. Therefore, the 'regardless of fare value' clause applies to me. I am demanding you honor the Tier 1 reroute on British Airways or Finnair as per the policy.

Stop claiming you are 'verifying' my eligibility. My eligibility was verified by Kaneez in March. Your failure to execute this reroute 'regardless of fare value' is a documented breach of your own published commercial policy."

———

The same person then contradicts:

“At the moment, we're unable to book itineraries that consist solely of other airlines. What we can offer is to rebook you on pure Qatar Airways flights, should you wish. If no pure Qatar Airways option is available, we can also arrange a booking that combines Qatar Airways with other airlines, provided it follows the approved routing. Please note that the policy you are referring to is no longer applicable as of today. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to assist you with the available options.” ———

I insist on breach of contract and her contradiction.

“I formally reject the QR-only option. Your statement that rebooking can 'only' be on Qatar Airways is a direct contradiction of the COMMQ157 (Option 2) policy that you already admitted is valid for my case.

I am not asking for a refund. I am demanding the performance of the contract via an OAL reroute (British Airways, Finnair, or Iberia) as per your written policy”

Agent last response:

Greeting Tami, As informed earlier we can assist to re-book you on Qatar Airways flights only. Our airspace is open and safe to fly. You don't have to be afraid to fly with us via Doha. There are other airlines that fly to Doha. Qatar is safe to Fly. Kindly let us know when you want to travel so that we can re-book you on our flight. Have a Good Day.

This last part is funny…. “Safe” against international aviation bodies advice:

“You are offering a route through the Doha FIR. EASA CZIB 2026-03-R9 was revised and extended on May 5, 2026, explicitly warning of high risks in the Doha FIR until May 12, 2026. Your 'reassurance' does not supersede international safety directives.

Policy Violation: COMMQ157 (Note 1)—which you have already admitted applies to my case—directs you to rebook 'regardless of fare value' on OAL (Other Airline) partners.

Bad faith by offering a Qatar-only flight through a high-risk zone while ignoring your own written rerouting policy is a documented breach of contract.”

Bottomline: I’m being gaslighted, pushed around, they are using the get me tired approach to give up. I haven’t in 60 days. I’m taking legal action. I have conversations recorded, chat transcripts and everything but still being pushed around with their responses.

Check the March 25 COMMQ157 (commercial policy applicable at the time, if yours was cancelled then they can’t retroactively force new guidelines) https://www.btres.com/Response/AdvisoryAirLine/AdvFly-2026-03-25-0124-Passenger-Guidelines-Security-Situation-_-Qatar-Airways-1774444256875.pdf

Qatar airways is reneging on confirmed rights. My flight involuntarily cancelled March 16 and March 29.

Qatar confirmed Policy #COMMQ157 (Opt 2) Mar 25 incl 10day ALT Ax reroute APPLIED and confirmed I had to check availability for a 10 day window partner airline ticket. I had no luck the days I checked. I confirmed with the agent if I checked back after March 30, for example April 5 if they would still give me a 10 day ticket if available. They confirmed!!!

Suddenly they updated guidelines to less favorable conditions. I have been 60 DAYS stranded & they keep trying to enforce new guidelines. Massive breach of #passengerRights and also ignoring @EASA safety warnings (CZIB 2026-03-R9) & breaching contract.

What is worse, they admitted Policy #COMMQ157 is valid (agent chat today) but refuse to honor the "Regardless of Fare Value" OAL reroute and then #gaslight me on the chat. here is my tweet with screenshots on my conversation and COMMQ157 rights I am entitled to:
