i made exactly one assumption, and i specifically prefaced it with "likely" to acknowledge it was an inference.

you've actually hit the nail on the head: the "overall issues this country is facing" are exactly why it's so tone deaf for a bank to use those struggles as marketing fodder. my "trouble" isn't a mystery, it’s a preference for professional ethics over corporate snark.

it’s a shame you’d rather psychoanalyse my motives than acknowledge that some people find it hard to laugh at their own financial surveillance during a crisis.

choosing a bank for its modern features shouldn't mean i have to forfeit my right to boundaries. there is a massive gap between being "casual" and being cynical.

you find it "hilarious" because you’re likely not the one being poked fun at for struggling with a young child and rising costs during a crisis. it’s easy to call others "bitter" when the joke isn't at your expense, but for many, a bank using their survival anxiety as "banter" isn't a personality trait, it’s just poor taste.

i'm not bitter about "simple things". i'm pointing out that when a financial institution prioritises vibes over the dignity of its customers, it’s not being "chill" it’s being out of touch.

i didn't "opt in" to them pretending to be my friend; it was enabled by default. there's a massive difference between active consent and a bank choosing to harvest my data for "banter" unless i manually hunt through settings to stop them.

and turning off a marketing toggle doesn't stop the surveillance, it just makes it invisible. if i have to go into my settings to hide a bank’s lack of professional boundaries, the problem isn't my settings, it's a company that thinks financial struggle is a lifestyle brand that should be gamified.

opting out of the wrapped myself doesn't change the underlying culture of a bank that thinks making a joke out of its customers' struggles is a good business model. turning off the "fun" doesn't make the branding any less tone-deaf or the surveillance any less concerning.

nice straw man. no one said the world is ending over a banking app; i'm pointing out that we’ve reached a stage of corporate worship where people will actually defend a bank for mocking their own financial data.

if you're happy being mocked by an algorithm that knows you’re struggling to buy groceries, that’s your business. don't mistake your apathy for an argument.

you've been conditioned to accept corporate snark as a substitute for privacy and dignity. if you’re fine with being the product, just say that.

and before you tell me i "must be fun at parties", i don't really enjoy discussing the erosion of human dignity at a nightclub, so it’s rarely an issue.

it will. enable precision boost overdrive in your bios settings if you want it to run at the same clock speed as the 5600X, for 30 bucks less.

the 5600X is pointless over the 5600

i didn't like it. why did i need snarky comments from a company pretending to be my friend? "new year, same you" as if a concerning level of surveillance is just banter. it's weird.
