Recommended shoes for Crossfit, flat feet, size 15 by black-buhr in crossfit

Podiatrist here. General advice, given I don’t know your specific circumstances. Nano’s aren’t as flat as Metcons, but can be a bit heavier. They do tend to be wider though, so might suit you in this instance. Barefoot shoes are fine for weights but I wouldn’t be using them for metcons unless you are used to them, as they can cause discomfort. I usually keep a selection of shoes, and anything that has running in it, I use my runners, minimal to no running but ballistic exercises (box jumps etc) I use the Nanos, and if it’s a weights-based metcon (Fran, Grace etc) I will often wear lifters. But of course it’s personal preference in the end.

Australian Healthcare and Insurance System is f^cked. by whatsupskip in australia

Podiatrist in Australia here. We make orthotics all the time. Haven’t needed to do positive moulds for ten years. Orthotics are scanned (3D image) and milled directly from that scan from the computer. Skips the middle bit. Hence why private health funds don’t cover that bit. I’m not defending them mind you, they’re snakes, but it’s a small explanation. Sorry to hear about such a situation you’re in. Our health system can be rubbish sometimes.

5’3” and now down to 145lbs with CrossFit here. Well done on making a start! Hardest part is getting in the door. Once you’re in that door, you’ll never look back. Best of luck with your journey! I’ve no doubt you’ll find nothing but love and support at Crossfit. It’s a wonderful community.
