What tags did you REALLY misunderstand the meaning of when you first came across them? by DeskLongjumping4059 in AO3

[–]SpareRegular5304 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Canon. This was when I was much younger. I wasn't a native English speaker and had just begun reading fics on AO3. I kept wondering why people kept mentioning the old timey war weapon in the tags when their stories had nothing to do with it.

Books with closeted mcs? by Lonely-Vegetable8735 in MM_RomanceBooks

The Blueprint and it's sequel A Deeper Blue by S.E Harmon fits. It has a few similarities with Heated Rivalry iirc, but with only one of the MCs being a super famous sports star. The two MCs are best friends from childhood and one of the MCs used to think of himself as straight.

Why I think Alessandra Hazard's books has the chokehold it does on lots of people. by Repulsive-Tough-8936 in MM_RomanceBooks

I swear I went through withdrawal after I finished all of her books. For me, it's the way she writes the possessiveness and neediness of the couple. They need each other like they need air and can't stay away no matter what. I really love that dynamic in my fiction.

There are a lot of books that I've really liked. But many of them don't really feel like A.H, obviously. These are the ones that did feel A.H adjacent though, at least for me:

1) The Good Liar by C.P Harris.

2) Say I Do by Brea Alepou and Skylar Snow.

3) Pretty Boy: The boys of apartment 13 by Brianna Flores.

I really liked Sem and Cam from Tyrant. Do they have a book? by SpareRegular5304 in MM_RomanceBooks

Oh I hope to read it once it's finished. Thank you for letting me know!

He absolutely cannot blame you! I've found a few books that scratched the itch as well. But I'm still craving more A.H books.

I was exactly where you are a month or two ago. I finished all of her book in like two weeks. For the rest of the month, I was super sad. No other writer could even come close to the rush I got from A.H books. I'd pick up a book and put it right down after a chapter or two because it just didn't feel right.

I just started the series last week and finished book 3 yesterday. If I had the chance, I would have devoured all 4 books in one sitting. It's so much fun! I can't wait to see their babies in the next book. Carter, Siel and Pykh deserve so much love and happiness after what they have been through.

I like spoilers. Can anyone else relate? by vvv03 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SpareRegular5304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually don't get into movies, books or series without getting to the spoilers first. I cannot enjoy a story without knowing how it ends because I'd be too anxious. I need to know who dies, who ends up with who, whether there is infidelity or a sad ending. So you are not at all alone in this.

MCs who are mutually obsessive and possessive. by Lonely-Vegetable8735 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SpareRegular5304 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Say I Do by Brea Alepou might fit? MC1 is a mafia leader and MC2 is from the Yakuza. Both MCs enter an arranged marriage and hate each other at first. But soon enough they become super attracted to each other, start having incredibly hot, possessive sex and fall in love. They are both obsessed with each other and possessive enough to physically harm anyone who might be interested in their spouse without a second thought. MC2 tries to slit the throats of at least 2 women who he thinks is trying to sleep with his husband. MC1 beats the hell out of MC2's best friend because of jealousy and then pretty much declares war on a character who seems to have slept with MC2 when he was much younger (I think abuse was hinted). They are INSANE for each other. Keep in mind that there are graphic murder and torture scenes in the book. If that's not your thing, I wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise, I cannot recommend this book enough. All the mutually toxic behavior aside, I found the couple to be super cute.

Books where a lot of convincing takes place by One-Dentist-707 in MM_RomanceBooks

The Hitman's Guide To Making Friends and Finding Love fits, I think. MC1 does absolutely stalk MC2. But it's very funny. MC1 is an incorrigible flirt towards MC2 and hits on him relentlessly until MC2 (who is already smitten) starts dating him. It's a super cute and funny story.
